White Box On Desktop
« on: January 05, 2005, 07:57:07 am »
Sometimes I get a white box over the text for a desktop icon.

If I restart X it goes away, but if I click alt it comes back.

Any ideas?

I have gotten that white box too. I happened after I tried to change the stock wallpaper with one of the images I imported.

hey men, that's the normal icon selection box

simply you have white text on white box. Use shadows on texts, or a different color and you'll be ok

Well, yes if I change the icon text colour it is now grey on white (or whatever) so it's readable.

And I can understand the box being shown when I am navigating round the desktop by keyboard not mouse.

BUT why doesn't it go when I move the focus to somewhere else? Try it on your PC (I tried XP and Gnome) and (1) the box is blue not white, so the text can be seen and (2) when you move the focus elsewhere the box goes.

I can see how to change the colour of the background, and the colour of the text but how do I change the colour of the box?

Thanks
