Sharp ROMs / OK, Now the Real New Cacko Qtopia ROM
« on: March 15, 2004, 03:52:29 am »
Yupp.
No sweat.
Open up the pc-link-applet, select network, press ok and plug your zaurus into some linux or windows box. Wait a moment until the Z has initialized the network and stuff, then unplug it again, reopen pc-link and select storage. That\'s what worked in my case. The problem seems to be that in \"virgin\" (just installed) condition, the storage_fd module doesn\'t seem to load.

Good luck,
Abed

Sharp ROMs / theKompany.rom - Need to dispurse workload more...
« on: February 13, 2004, 12:52:08 pm »
Hi there,

Ahm... I might be mistaken, but I think that this discussion is heading in the wrong direction.

If I read it correctly, Mickey\'s point was not to \"assimilate\" the tkcROM into the Opie/OpenZaurus collective. As far as I understood, he simply pointed out, that using OpenEmbedded (which is a tool, not only a distribution) as the building environment for the tkcROM. OE in itself can (probably) be configured to use gcc2.95 and libc2.2 as well as the gcc3.x and libc2.3 libraries of the OZ team.

In the wiki-statement on the OpenEmbedded-website there is some explanation (http://www.openembedded.org/phpwiki/index.php/OpenEmbeddedBlurb).
If i read it correctly, the environment is highly configurable and one should also be able to set it up to build SharpROM-compatible ROMs - such as the tkcROM was and probably will be. (Or will it be called \"BlueEmber\"?)

However, I am not a real developer myself so I might be wrong - and I have not used OE yet, though I plan on learning to in the next months. Thus, all I want to say is: Discussing the transformation of tkcROM to OZ doesn\'t help anyone - it\'s not what proto (or Mickey) wanted. (Correct me if I\'m wrong.)

So long,

Security and Networking / SanDisk Connect Wifi card operating strangely
« on: February 11, 2004, 03:41:46 am »
Hi n8a,

Well it seems you\'re not alone. I had the same problem with 2 SanDisk CFs in my C760 - without \"cardctl reset\" (at least the second one) - I finally sent the zaurus in and got a new one as we figured that this could not be right.

Strange.
Perhaps someone can shed some light on this?

Sharp ROMs / cacko-1.18 problems ... (minor)
« on: February 10, 2004, 10:05:08 am »
Hi there,

At the moment, I\'m using the Cacko Qtopia 1.18 ROM (latest release from january). However I noticed some ... annoyances - which might be primarily related to me not knowing what I\'m doing...
Perhaps someone with more wisdom can help me...

1.) samba
... well I just found that one in the other thread and it seems to work a little better now. However - is it a bug or a feature that there is no /usr/lib/samba/ ?

2.) nano
nano doesn\'t seem to be able to find the libncurses5.so - even though I installed it!?

3.) bluetooth
I cannot seem to get the opd (object-push-demon) working - it complains about an undefined symbol: \"sdp_uuid16_create\" - next I\'ll try installing tumnus\' latest bt release...

Will there be any more updates to the Qtopia?

Greetings,
ABed

Accessories / AirCable sold in Europe?
« on: February 10, 2004, 07:59:26 am »
Hello again...
as far as I know, they sell the complete aircable at trisoft. However I don\'t know for sure since I am a happy socket (pre-G) BT-CF-user. :-)
Anyways I am sure that they\'ll answer an emailed question if you ask them nicely ;-)
