5x00 General discussions / .tar Vs .ipk for libopenobex !!

I am not sure what that set of libs is for but when I have installed libs on my 5500 I have put the tarball in /usr/zaurus and then popped out to the shell, su, "password if you need one" then tar -xvzf filename.tgz and let things happen... seems to work for me.

I seem's to me that a while back I read through another thread about someone that left a Z in a drawer for several months got a one time charge and poof no lights not screen... I think he ended up needing to clean the contacts off and reinsert the battery and let it charge for a long time... (the lights will not come on if there is no battery to charge or if the battery is fully charged so if the contacts are not making contact it thinks there is no battery)

A 32MB card is enough but with prices the way they are... 128 is only about $12 more?  I have been using the v3.13 rom (somewhat altered to install apps to the SD Card) since a few days after it hit the board with little or no trouble.

well as near as I can figure it was an ownership thing... I had a crash and after reinstall it works swimmingly!

I just put Opera 7.30 on my sl-5500 here a little while ago and ever since I can\'t get the bookmarks to save! Very frustrating!

General Discussion / Intermittent lost of USB network connection between Z and XP

You may want to look at your power settings on the Winders Axe Pee box... something like \"this connection can be powered down when not needed\" or the likes is the default setting for the USB hub so if you are not transfering data the box powers off the USB and when you restart the Z it sends a check packet and poof the interface is powered back up!  I think you can change that to \"do not power down this device\" and the problem will go away

I use an AmbiCom WIFI card and it works fine and has since I first got it. Mine is a model: WL1100C-CF and worked right out of the box.  It was not pricy either

the owners manual says that you must charge the battery for 24 hours so that it is fully charged when you first get the unit... if you missed that step the battery may be drained and you may need to leave the unit turned off... battery in... switch in the normal operation mode... and let the unit charge the battery all the way up.

from what you have posted I think that maybe the flash went wrong and you never got it to compleat after that... did you leave the unit plugged into the ac all the time while you were flashing the os? did both lights come on and stay on for a while?

I use a belkin.com screen protector on my Z that is meant for a compaq ipaq it is a little long but can be cut on a paper cutter right along the belkin.com logo and it fits to a t... I got a new set of styli from compusa.com that were meant for a Toshiba handheld that has a nice telescopic feature and fit the tube of the Z like they were intended for it...

I had something like that happen to my sd card and it was fixed when I did a reboot... it has never reoccured so I have no clue what it was about

Yes that was the list... or at least one like it! thanks for that help but now I am wondering what the heck has happened with vim... that was the way I remembered it hit the cancel key once and poof you drop to the bottom of the screen in command mode

Thanks for the copy of 1.5.0-5 but it did not solve the problem!?!?!?  I get in vim and hit the cancel button and sit right there... no mode switch... I am begining to think I am holding my elbow wrong or something??!!??

I was begining to think I had gone mad! The opie-embeddedkonsole I am using is 1.5.9-2 so maybe I have that problem also... I don\'t suppose you would email me a copy of the ipk for 1.5.0-5 would you doseas? dawest at email dot com
