If it helps, installing the upgrade *didn\'t* help me resolve the problem on my 5600, trying to sync with W2K or MinME, Palm or Outlook, USB or Advanced USB, it apparently made no difference at all........

General Discussion / Using Zaurus to console

You may find this handy, too,  http://www.sc-systems.com/support/jspZaurus.htm - I want to do the same for Cisco swiitches, I bought myself the zThin cable and looks pretty OK, just seems to still be spewing spurious characters at the moment, must be some kind of daemon running still. If you find out what it is, let me know, please! I\'m still concentrating on trying to get any form of intellisync going .....

You are lucky.... I\'ve never had anything else but that!! So far, I\'ve ried every combination that I can think of (W2K, Palm, Outlook, WinME, lastest sharp synch software, upgrade ROM to latest sharp ROM) Abject failure

General Discussion / Sinking under synching......
« on: March 05, 2004, 10:49:11 am »
I\'m getting a little desperate to get my synch going... I\'ve got a 5600, now with Sharp Rom1.32V and Qtopia 1.54 (figger I\'d like to get intellisync sorted before changing) .... symptoms are:
File transfer A-OK
plain vanilla USB I/O initiated from the Z doesn\'t kick off, from the PC (W2K) returns \"error in communication, remove z & replace\"
USB TCP/IP initiates fine. First time after clearing sync history I get \"Z is low on memory\" (doesn\'t seem to be and I\'ve got a 20Mb swap file)
After 1st time, get \"error in communication\".

Looks like a W2K issue to me... any thoughts at all appreciated!

Cxx0 Hardware / Creating a Swap File
« on: February 28, 2004, 08:21:06 am »
I\'d appreciate some advice for what I\'m trying to do, too. I\'ve successfully used fdisk to partition my (64Mb) SD into 40Mb FAT16 and 24Mb Swapfile, and I can mount the FAT16 partition. However, the card appears RO (although mount says RW) and even after mkswap /dev/mmcda2 and swapon /dev/mmcda2 it doesn\'t seem to recognise the swapfile. As I am new to linux, I am probably doing somthing stoopid, but any ideas, please?

(oops just seen the forum is 7x0 and mine is 5600, but that shouldn\'t make a difference, should it?)

Accessories / Cheapest CompactFlash SD cards?

I\'ve just received a \"Viking\" 64Mb SD from www.7dayshop.com (they are really cheap for photographic film) for £16.39, 256Mb is £46.49, works fine in my 5600. (256Mb CF is £36.19, not tested)

Windows Issues / 5600 Sync from Organizer, via Palm desktop
« on: February 24, 2004, 08:18:27 am »
I\'m trying to sync data from Organizer (appx 250 contacts, no calendar etc) onto my 5600. I installed Palm Desktop 4.1 (re-installed Z intellisync) and imported my lotus addresses.

I have tried USB and USB TCP/IP (192.168.0.1 for Z and .2 for PC, can ping both ways) and can achieve connectivity on both, and it will transfer a sample calendar and todo entry.  When it gets to the addresses, I get the message \"Your Zaurus is running low on memory\" and it falls over, no contacts transferred.

My Z is \"as out the box\" with qtopia 1.5.4, Linux Kernel 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix Sharp ROM version 1.00V

Any assistance gratefully received!
