Security and Networking / Socket Rev G BT Issue - Permission denied
« on: September 02, 2004, 09:57:27 pm »
Hi,

I've looked thorugh the forums and didn't see anything like my issue so maybe someone can help.

I am running Cacko 1.2.1 B and the Socket BT Rev G card.  Following the BT FAQ, I tried to connect with my PC with PAN with the network applet and my PC prompts me for the Pin for my Zaurus.  Then it fails to connect with my PC saying connect timed out.

I then followed the instructions on http://www.jens-koenen.de/index.html and everything looked OK up through:
pand --role PANU --service NAP --connect xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx --nodetach

When I do this, my PC again asks for the PIN and I give it (left at default 1234).  It takes a while and then pand returns "Permission denied(13)".  I ran this as root.

I changed my hic.conf to enable authentication and security.  On the PC side I am using the WIDCOMM 1.4.2 Build 10.  Some of the local services and client app settings have the Secure Connection set to "true".

Any ideas?

Thanks.

General Discussion / MAME Errors
« on: August 30, 2004, 07:23:36 am »
coolZ,

I haven't tried MAME on the Z, but the SNES and NES emulators I have must be run through the application launcher not from the command line.  Try creating a new application on one of your tabs and then try launching it (you will probably need to have it set to use the magnified screen since it is most likely set to run 320x240 - do a forum search on SDL_QT_INVERT_ROTATION if you are having problems with the correct orientation).

Hope this helps.

Oops - I meant 'cvm -jar' if you are using the J2ME PP instead of Jeode

cwalstad,

Can you jar up your class files from your machine and then transfer the JAR file over to the Z?  You can then launch it with the jar file in the classpath or if you are using the J2ME PP, then you can create a manifest to run the program with cvm -jar <jarname>.

cowbean, if you are using the script mentioned above, it includes the \'-ns\' option which disables sounds.  Sound will slow things down...

Sharp ROMs / Advice Before I Take the \'ROM Flash Plunge\'
« on: April 08, 2004, 11:59:51 pm »
I made a NAND backup but I thought I saw one posted online (plus after going with another ROM you probably won\'t think about the Sharp one again  ).  As for other backups, if you have synced up then you won\'t lose any PIM data.  Any other things you have on the machine that you want to keep (development scripts, other data files, etc) you should backup to SD/CF or your PC.  You might want to keep track of all the things you have installed - c++, java, libs (like SDL, etc) so you can get back up and running with all your expected apps.  I use Cacko 1.20, but I think I might try the 1.21 to see if it helps with my Socket BT issues.

That did it Gary!!

Thanks a lot for your help!

BTW, compiled using the new dev_img-1.5 file that I installed earlier today....

No problem!  I installed 1.5 as well.  I just replaced the reference in /etc/fstab that pointed to the 1.4 image to point to the 1.5 image and that was it.  So as long as the dev images are a single cramfs file I think upgrades should always be this smooth

I\'ve attached a zip file that contains the first two tutorials off of trolltech\'s site and a simple compile.sh that compiles a single file - just pass in the name of the file and the output file.  This was tested under the dev1.4 image (still need to upgrade to the latest one).

Let me know if it works.

Hi ArchiMark,

I compiled some of the tutorials off of TrollTech\'s site by just including:
Code: [Select]
#include

#include

...etc...

I used the gcc options you posted earlier - from what I remember those options helped me get past those errors.

I bought my C860 from this guy for $685.00 shipped:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=38331

I received it fairly quickly after he sent it (I think it took less than a week from the time I won the auction).

Yeah - but if you add SQL_QT_INVERT_ROTATION=1 to your .sh script it will be right-side up.  I don\'t know if this affects performance.  Do you know of a launcher for snes9x?  Otherwise, I;d have to have a million items in my Games folder.  If not, I\'ll probably look at creating one.

Ahh - that was my problem   I thought I didn\'t need to create an icon and could run it from the command line.  I did have to do the SQL_QT_INVERT_ROTATION=1 when using the zports SDL though.

Thanks!

Yeah, I got the cannot eject error message as well so I just pulled it and that seemed to work (I got the card ejected message).  I was then able to put in my Ambicom and it worked fine.  My power button doesn\'t seem to have any issue (I have an 860).  However, when I tried to pull the \"nicely\" using the Bluetooth stop command, my Ambicom WiFi wouldn\'t work afterwards until a reboot (there might of been a way to restart a service... but I don\'t know which one).

Now after my reboot, I get my original errors about timing out   Actually, when I did have the PAN working I had the same error when I converted over to using ICS.  Ahh, well its getting late so I\'ll take a fresh look at this tomorrow night.

Well I finally got PAN to work with my XP machine!  I tried lots of things (WinXP-PPP connection, etc) so I\'m not sure of the exact thing that worked.  However I think it was modifying the hcid.conf file to enable authentication and encryption (auth enable; encrypt enable; ).  Now I am able to do intellisync over BT without any issues as well as FTP to my desktop.  It now finds the device as \'zaurus\'.

Now my next task is to setup ICS so I can surf over BT through my PC...

Hi,

Well I just tried to get my Socket BT card to connect (I think it\'s RevG - I bought it from someone who told me it was - is there a way I can tell)?

ccrandal, I followed your instructions (and after a reboot) everything seems to work (at least I can do hcicontrol ans sdptool now).  I am in the process of getting a BT phone so I was trying to get PAN to work.  My WinXP machine can detect my Z (shows up a \"Laptop\") when I hit the connect in the applet and it prompts me for a PIN which I typed in.  After a short while my XP machine returns with \"Error in pairing with device Laptop\". Reason: Timeout occurred during pairing.  I even tried using pand directly from the instructions at http://www.jens-koenen.de/index.html but same error.  The sdptool search NAP does find my PC as a NAP.

I am running Cacko 1.2 with the sudo and bluez-serial drivers listed previously in this post.  When I commented out the settings in the bluetooth.conf file and insert my CF card, I get a generic Serial or modem type whereas before I got Socket Bluetooth.  I am using a Kensington USB BT adapter (on sale at Best Buy this week) on my PC.  At the moment I don\'t have any other BT devices to check either my PC or Z against.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
-Gary
