For Sale / Wanted / Fs: Zaurus C1000 & Sl5500
« on: December 29, 2008, 04:14:12 am »
I'm selling my Zauri because I no longer have time to play with them.

C1000:
  • Excellent condition
  • Leather pouch
  • 1GB SD card
  • Linksys wireless CF card, confirmed to work with Debian and Ängstrom
  • Battery lifetime: at least 5 hours of active use
  • European or US charger included
  • Price: €140 + shipping
SL-5500
  • Rather poor paint job (not my work, previous owner)
  • Still in 100% working condition
  • Includes EU or US charger
  • 2 batteries, battery life unknown, never really used it much
  • Price: €40 + shipping
Any interested bidders? Prices can be discussed.

5x00 General discussions / Openzaurus On Sd Card?
« on: January 25, 2008, 05:57:01 am »
Hi, I've been trying to use the instructions on the OZ wiki to install a root fs to an SD card on an SL-5500.
Altboot keeps telling me 'insmod failed', has anyone had more success than me?

Kind regards,

Wim

Personal Java/Jeode/J2ME Personal Profile / Phoneme And Oz/angstrom
« on: January 19, 2008, 06:39:40 am »
Has anyone managed to get phoneME to work on OZ (with either Qt/E or X)?

I've read about it working on pdaXrom on this forum, but pdaXrom seems to have a less active community so I'd like to use OpenZaurus (and eventually angstrom when it works on my device).

So, any success stories? I'd have a go at building it, but I can't look at it for a few more weeks.

Security and Networking / Supported Wifi Cards
« on: January 18, 2008, 01:54:57 pm »
Hi,

I thought it would be nice to have a centralized list of wifi cards supported by OpenZaurus/Angstrom on the Zauri.
I couldn't find one on the forum so I decided to ask you guys for it.

I've been looking around on the internet to buy one, but there is little information on what chipsets they use
and most shopkeepers never even heard of Linux, let alone a Zaurus.

I thought people could post their experience with certain wifi cards here. Which chipset is in which card,
how well they tend to work on your device. You can also post non-working cards, that information is also
useful for people that are looking to buy one.

When posting, it would be nice if you included:
  • The name of the card
  • The name of the chipset
  • What device(s) you tried it with
  • Which distribution you are using, and which version
I'll try to keep a tidy overview list by editing this post every now and then.

If there already is a list like this, please let me know.

Hi,

I just bought an SL-5500, and I'm trying to figure out if it will be able to use the 4GB microdrive i have lying around.
I can't find much about it with google.

Any idea?

Wim
Used to use mine with a 1GB IBM Microdrive.  Worked Fine, though ate the battery life.

C

Thanks. I'm only planning to use it for large files, I got a few small CF cards for general use.
