Security and Networking / Automatically run smbmount?

Hope someone will point me in the right direction

I mainly use my C860 (Cacko 1.21) to play MP3s shared on my windows machine. On starting up my Z, I go to Konsole, and log in as SU and put in the password. I then have to type the smbmount command to mount the windows share on to /mnt/card/mp3 so I can access the files in music player.

Is there a way to script/automatically do all this when the Z starts up each time?

On another topic, does anyone know of a way to share MP3s and create a library on my local webserver so I can access them on my Z? It takes a long time to bring up the directory list on the Z through the windows share.

Sharp ROMs / Jeez - got smbmount working - now what?

Man this is getting frustrating!

I want to play the MP3s on my windows box shares on my Z.

I have smbmount mounting the correct share to /mnt/smb/mp3. I can see the files in Tree!Explorer...

Now what can I use to play them? None of the programs installed will access the files beyond Internal Flash or SD card. I can\'t navigate through the file system it seems.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi All

As I am unable to get smbmount to connect to my my windows share, my other thought was to set up some sort of mp3 streaming on my windows box, accessible on a browser or some other application on my C860.

Anyone done this? Any luck or pointers?

Well, not that I presume to say X11 is a nightmare - I just couldnt use it - it was slow and difficult to get apps running on it but it was completely user inexperience.

Linux Issues / nmblookup & smbmount - please please help

Hi Robert - thank you for the help.

Here is the command I am typing (192.168.1.100 is the ip of the winxp box, K is the share name, there is no password or login (I have it set to allow everyone in the WinXP share)

# # smbmount //192.168.1.100/K /zaurus/mp3

I get:
unrecognized character set 866
unrecognized character set 866
Could not resolve mount point /zaurus/mp3

I have created a directory called //mnt/smb/mp3 where (I think) it mounts to?

Any pointers? Thank you.

Linux Issues / nmblookup & smbmount - please please help

I am trying to mount one of my windows shares...

I have read to use nmblookup to find the netbios name of the share I have created, but I can\'t seem to find nmblookup! I have read that it is part of samba, but it is not in any directory I can find...

Any help would be appreciated - I would love to get smbmount working and this seems to be my stumbling block (just using mount -t smbfs - //192.168.1.100/mp3 //mnt/smb/mp3 is not working!

Then I can sleep tonight...

Hi All

Just switched back to TkcRom from PDAX (what a nightmare!)

Wondering if there are guis for TAR and SMBmount - I have trouble running these in the shell and would love a way to use these tools from a file explorer or my desktop.

Any suggestions?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Please help - trying to ftp to C860

Hi All - I have installed PDAxRom 1.0.5 and well, I don\'t like it. I am trying to copy the Cacko setup files to my SD card, but I can\'t seem to be able to get there! I have downloaded the rom, and it came in a zip file. I can\'t figure out how to unzip it in the Z, so I figure I would unzip it on my windows machine, and ftp the files to my SD card in my Z.

Trouble is, I can\'t figure out how to ftp to the darn thing. I have installed OpenSSH on the Z and Putty on my windows machine and I know the Z is on the network (because I can browse in Mozilla) and I can ping the windows machine. When I go to Putty and try and connect the connection is refused.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi All

I downloaded, transfered and flashed my 860 to PDAX 1.0.5

Everything went pretty good, it looks neat but one problem...

I can\'t seem to calibrate the stylus properly! Everytime I do, the cursor seems to be about 20 pixels off where it should be and I can\'t control it.

I have removed the pointercal file in /etc/ and rebooted and tried again, but can\'t seem to configure it properly!

Any suggestions? It worked fine under Cacko 1.21

Does anyone know of a way to get Macromedia Flash on my Z?

What if I took their linux binary and repacked it? I ask because I don\'t know how to get the ipk repacking thing figured out, but if it is the only way I will have to keep chipping away at it.

Thanks! By removing the comment from the Telnet line I can at least connect, but it asks me for a login and password - something I have never set up so I don\'t know what it is looking for!

Is there a way to telnet to my c860? I\'d like to be able to type in terminal commands from my windows machine to configure the Z rather than use the tiny little screen and keyboard.
