Accessories / Help Me!

Try watch repair shops.

Don't pay a lot. Just tell them it's for a watch, not an expensive computer;)

Take the one remaining screw with you as a go-by. and DON'T LOOSE IT.

Good luck.
Tim
Also, you don't need to remove the screws.
Just spread the wings a bit and lift off.

I have had good luck with Simpletech.
My Sandisk Ultra II has worked so far.
My regular Sandisk? Not a chance.

Go to http://www.linux-migration.org
Follow the instructions on moving root to a SD card.
This frees all ram for running programs.

Accessories / Netgear MA701 problems
« on: May 20, 2004, 10:45:39 pm »
The drivers are in the Zaurus already.
Mine is the SL-5500, but they should be similar.
Depending on the ROM version, it should appear as eth0 or wlan.
Insert the card.
Go to the tools page, and select the network.
Select the interface, and click on configure.

If not, maybe someone with a 5600 can help.

I have a SL5500 and a MA701.
It just works.
Did you click on network and configure the card?
It should be the wlan interface.
It worked for me with the Sharp, Cacko and OZ3.2 roms.

I also have the symbol card which also worked out of
the box.

General Discussion / Powdercoated Zaurus?

My Zaurus has a couple scratches on the frame around the screen. It looks crappy. I think the platic cover did it because there are paint identical paint marks on it. I've been thinking of painting the Z, but I'm not sure about that.

Has anybody had any experience with powder coating their Z? I've heard this is a great way to color stuff.

I was hoping a site like http://www.colorwarepc.com/ could take requests for this kind of thing, but I haven't contacted them yet nor seen anything on their site for any type of "custom request".

What do'ya think about powder coating?
Has anybody tried it?

Zaurus SL-5500

Powdercoating requires electrostatic deposition followed
by baking in an oven at 325 -375 degrees for 20 minutes or so.
Unless your zaurus case is metal, you are out of luck.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Slow NFS mounts.
« on: May 07, 2004, 06:32:15 pm »
I have replaced the cacko roms with OZ 3.2, and encounter
long delays during NFS mounts.
I am using a Netgear MA701 and it works well.
Pings are immediate, but the mount command takes several
minutes to complete.

I reloaded cacko, and mounts return immediately.

Any ideas?

Other than this problem, I really like OZ.

Windows Issues / Telnet to Zaurus?
« on: April 20, 2004, 11:30:10 pm »
Edit /etc/inetd.conf
the telnetd service is commented out.
Remove the # from one of the 2 lines, and restart inetd.

This works on my 5500.
