General Discussion / Opera browser crashes.

Thanks a lot for tips n tricks Tunmnus & Lpotter!!!

I have changed the property (Fast load) for address book, calendar and to do.  

I could go ahead and disable images and browse, but my majority of the time I would use my Z for storing route maps and directions  (Local files, I clean all local files after use).  If i disable images that would defeat the purpose.

I could disable caching though.  But how?

Hello All,

While browsing internet sites on my Z, the browser (Opera) would crash/terminate due to lack of memory after browsing through multiple pages/sites.

Is there anyway we could improve/better manage memory in Z?  Is there anything that I could do to optimize memory.

While I am browsing no other application would be running, just the browser alone would be launched.

Following is detail of my Z:
Sharp Zaurus 5600
Opera 7.5

Hello All,

Thanks for your postings! I\'ve not installed any media player on my own.  I have default media player that comes with z (SL5600).  I checked MediaPlayer.conf, is there any setting that I need to set?  Or is there any other .conf file that I should look into and configure?

Hello All,

I am unable to play MP3s on my Z-5600.  When I play MP3s it gives me junk sound, as if the song is been played in fast forward mode.  I\'ve tried playing all kind of MP3s i.e. 56k, 128k and 160k.

I haven\'t installed any players on my own.  Trying with the default player that comes with Z-5600.  I\'ve heard from couple of friends that they can play MP3s on their Z-5600 through default player.

Do I have to configure anything to make this work properly or re-install a new player?  Please help!

Thanks a lot to everyone!  I did download Pure-FTP and installed and was able to connect from my linux & windows box via intranet.  

Thanks Tumnus, I could have tried with Samba, but wanted to use ftp too.  Thanks for updating the FAQ for Samba and FTP.

Thanks Clintreese and dot for sharing the information.

Things are getting excited will try out more things on my little Z.

Thank you all!  

Will try installing pureFTPd (I guess, it\'s already there).  But as per tumnus, 5600 doesn\'t support FTP, I assume that it (ftp) is by default not supported, but we can install and configure on our own.

dot, any suggestions before installing pureFTPd on 5600?

Hello All,

I\'m unable to bring up ftp service in my Z-5600.  I could bring up my telnet and logon to it remotely.

I\'ve enabled ftp service by uncommenting the corresponding line in /etc/inetd.conf file and restarted the inet service.

I did come across a posting which says that ftp in Zaurus by default runs on port 4242 I tried that also.

Can somebody help me here please.
