For Sale / Wanted / WANTED: Zaurus SL-5600

Yes indeed, there are flawed chips out there...  But they are fixable   Just make sure you use ver 1.3 of the special kernal.

If your talking about listening to shoucast streams (audio),  have you tried video lan client (vlc)?  It works on my 5600 and it plays streams from my computer (WiFi) or streams on the net (vlc http://www.websit.com:port)  Hope that helps?

Yes, unfortunately VNC (server) is not currently useable with 1.3.  I don\'t really miss it though, as I find no use for the VNC... The Zaurus is a mobile tool right?  And as far as you having lockups, and not being able to unmount it, make sure that you are turning off the swap file before trying to eject the card..  It seems that the zaurus becomes a little more \"picky\" after the Special Kernal is installed.

No, i\'ve heard that ver. is no good with 5600.  And do you know what processor you have?

Well, it does increase the speed, but it may sacrifice some stability.  I\'ve had a few unexpected restarts, but nothing serious.  I\'m still going to use it.  Make sure you d/l version 1.3, and use the sharp ver. of updater.sh

Sorry for the long replies, I\'m at werk :?

bluey you could not be anymore correct about people turning into script kiddies, after being rejected... it is so much easier for these kids to do a search on google for \"script kiddies\" than to get one decent answer from a real \"hacker\".  (The latter - damn near impossible).  But anyways thanks for the info, I\'ll definately check those sites out when I get home, I\'m pretty sure i\'ve been to securityfocus.com before... Thnx for your help - much appriciated I\'m done with this topic (SHEESH) :?

And let me do an analogy for DrWowe so he can understand why I come off as being \"defensive\"

If you went into a fourum, and asked the question:  \"How can I fix my car?\"
And then people respond with:    \"Well, you can do a search on google for mechanics...\"

That type of ish makes me mad, and gets me in a defensive attitude.  And yes, you did mean that as a \"negative\" comment when you told me to search for \"script kiddies\" - so don\'t try to flip the script.

LOL I do understand what you are saying bluey, nice comparison :?
But what you guys need to understand, is I\'m not asking you all to spoon feed me, or \"teach\" me how to hack.  All I was asking for are some sites where I can find some information on the subject at hand...  Nothing more...   And no I don\'t understand all the negative comments, (I saw them comming) as all those who make stupid remarks like search for \"script kiddie\" etc.  were once clueless too, but now they are Mr. Uberhacker and don\'t want to point a n00b in the right direction.. I don\'t get that... but I do understand about what you are saying, that it is a very complex matter, and I totally agree,  I\'m just kinda looking for an informative starting point...

LOL Windows does suck
Bluey thanks, that\'s the type of answer I was looking for....
I know that exact process that you were talking about as far as mapping the network, I just wanted to know where a good source would be to find out how to use the exploits, and those other programs to actually gain access... Or does it just come down to that one dreaded answer:  \"Learn how to program, and the hacking will come...\" :?

You just add a Z to make it look more... \"cool\"?

I didn\'t get what your trying to say?

Yes, the usdir.rdm.tgz can be found at the ZUG development site for all those who need it.  (The link is somewhere on this post)

Okay,

Can someone post some links on networking through a wireless router with a zaurus? (or anything relavant to this) I am trying to gain access to my other computers through my router, pretty much trying to hack through the router, and setup some type of backdoor on my computers...

I want to know how to create some type of data link between my Zaurus, when it is connected to my wireless router, to other computers on the network (LAN side).  I dont have WEP enabled, to eliminate hassles.  I can run nmap on my zaurus, and scan all the connected computers, and I want to know where I go from there... as far as getting into one of these computers.  And I was looking for a website that would point me in the right direction... I\'ve been to plenty of hacking sites, and all of them seem to have outdated .txt files...  nothing realavent to what i\'m trying to do.  Pretty much to sum it up, think of me as a Warwalker walking by my house trying to get into MY computer THROUGH the wireless network.  Or, one more way to put it, I want to test the security of my wireless router.  (And yes, I do know how to enable WEP, so please dont respond with that..)  And as far as the computers i\'m trying to hack... win 95 through XP

Thanks for your HELP guys...

Well thanks for taking up posting space, even though I requested that people do not reply negatively to this post...  I really think that you have no idea what I am talking about, just... nevermind...
