im using windows built in ftp connect client cause I cant use any other program like Core FTP as it just doesn't connect...

hmm maybe your right

there is a workaround the problem however, you have to symlink the folders of your CF/SD cards in the /root/Documents folder and it'll work good..

type in konsole:
ln -s /mnt/cf /root/Documents

i THINK that command will work, i actully use the File Manager to symlink my files so I not sure. Just experiment with file manager and it'll work.

damn, I always end up answering my own damn problems... but thats ok

heres the solution:

Solution #1 to connect to your 5500 and transfer files using USB:
USE FTP!!!!:
This HOW TO is stated here, near the bottom:

When you login to the 5500 from a XP box make sure you use the username as "root" and password as "rootme"

PROBLEM: I can't access anything outside of the /Documents/ file as it says I don't have sufficient access!! Can anyone find a way to change this??

Solution #2:
Somehow get SAMBA working on your openzaurus (i don't know where I can get it from, can someone enlighten me?) Samba can help you connect your windoze machine to the 5500 through "Network Neighbourhood"

after all this I STILL CAN'T TRANSFER FILES TO MY CF/SD!!! how annoying, anyone have any idea on removal of security??

ok i did a little research and found out that i need samba for this to work and since i have openzaurus then i can't do it cause i can't find samba for OZ 3.2!! does anone know here i can get it or at least how i can make the FTP server work within zaurus? thanks

How would I do that?

I can PING both ways but how to do I access the files from there? I mean, doesn't it need to have netbios protocol for us to see it in "network neighbourhood" or "network connections"??

Would I find it in network neightbourhood??

I've heard about TROLL.. is that for winXP? can it sync files from folders other then /Documents??

Also, I've tried to symlink a folder on my SD to a folder on the /Documents/ folder which didn't seem to work? Is it possible to actually do that? Did I do it wrong?

Hey guys,
I using the CD version of Intellisync File transfer on my winXP machine and was wondering if there was a way to sync files directly from the SD/CF cards rather then transferring to RAM then back to computer

any suggestions?

Well I wanted to leave the question about the version open so we can understand how some might be more stable then others tobias has no worries with his 3.3.6pre1 but pyrates does...

Personally I use 3.2 because I want the most stable platform i can get.. the only time it hangs is when i insert my kingsmax 256 mb SD card and also with when I load Opie-player. Apart from that its beautiful!

The question came to me last night to see how many people actully have crashing problems with their open zaurus compared to sharp ROMs.. Please vote and tell us your experiences between the two. Please note that this poll includes any time you even need to "soft" boot your Zaurus.. (ie. put the button from Normal operation to replace battery)

Hey guys once again

Does any one know of a successful installation of the java joede platform running on OZ 3.2? I've never tried or read anywhere where this might be possible. The reason I ask is because I have a new accounting software named JABP (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=678) and I really think its worth its while getting it up and running but haven't been successful so far so just firstly wondering if its possible to save myself any more hassle.

Hey guys

I was wondering if you guys can help me with suggesting me with a software for my OZ3.2 5500. At the moment I bought this great little device to use for my servicing business. I service computers and like to keep note of what i did for invoicing purposes and also for my own knowledge. Ideally, I'd like to store how much was made in that service aswell so I have a good idea of my accounts recieveables and anything as such. The PIM software is good for organising, but I'd like some basic accounting tools as well as some great invoicing, note taking tools. The HancomWord is pretty good with its Templates but I want to make my own but can't find out how (does anyone know??). So my question is that does this software exist and where can i get it from??

So far ive tried:

QashMoney - Seems more of a budgeting tool to me rather then an accounts program, or am I wrong to think so?
JABP - I'd love to get it to work but the darn thing runs off Java and I haven't got it to run on Open Zaurus 3.2 just yet so I dont know...

Any suggestions with links would be great!!
