For Sale / Wanted / Fs: Zaurus Sl-c860 And Accessories
« on: October 14, 2007, 01:45:53 pm »
I found the Wifi card, so everything is available now.  You can get a complete Z860 with memory cards, extra battery, and just about every accessory, for just $225+shipping.

Would be willing to paypal for the CE-RH1.

It says here that it doesn't work with the C1000.  Are you still interested?

Everything is still available, someone must want a Z!

Hi.  I am a bit confused about what is now on offer.  I am interested if you can ship to UK - can you give a total price for everything on offer, and confirm whether or not you have found the small battery door?
Thanks,
Mark

Everything.

The prices are as listed in the first post, but you can make a lower offer on something if you want, to be accepted at my discretion.  Unless scottfla takes the CE-RH1, all of the things listed can be bought (including the Z) for $225 + shipping.  I never received the small battery door from the original owner when i bought it a few years ago, so unfortunately, i can't include that.

Are you willing to ship to France, and if yes, how much would it cost ?

I thought i had a buyer in my state, but I haven't heard from him for a while.

So, if you're still interested -- I would be willing to ship to France, but I don't know how much it will be.  If i don't include the packaging it won't be a very large or heavy package.  Get in touch.

I updated the original post to reflect that the Z itself is available, as well.

On further consideration, with my new work schedule and software, i don't use my Z enough to justify keeping it -- so i am adding it to this sales thread:

Item #1: Zaurus SL-c860
A functional Zaurus that has seen use (there are scuffs on the case & etc.).  It has the most recent Cacko lite ROM installed, and will include all of the accessories below, plus the original extended battery (EA-BL08), charger, data cord and packaging.  Also included will be a P to Go (Power to go) compact "zip-cord" data cable, a 128MB CF card, and a 128MB higher-speed SM card.  I haven't seen the small battery cover since I bought it (ie it didn't come with one).  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Asking $225 for the lot + shipping

--Accessories--

I have some accessories for my SL-C860 Zaurus that i don't use anymore.  As they will be more useful elsewhere than sitting on my shelf, i am offering them here.  I have listed asking prices generally far below the list prices (some are available here, still) -- any offer is welcome, but I reserve the right to decide which i will accept.  Shipping will be $3 per person, so if you buy out the lot it will just cost you $3.  Original packaging and manuals will be included when available. Everything is in working order.

The first is the Zaurus Voice recorder Kit, CE-VK1 [img]http://conics.net/shp/pda/zaurus-sl-c700/images/ce-vk1.gif\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /] (Conics.net website)
It is a microphone that plugs into the headphone jack and lets you make voice recordings on your Zaurus.

Asking $15

The second is the Zaurus Remote,  CE-RH1 [img]http://homepage2.nifty.com/hamachi/zaurus/img/CE-RH1.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /] (random page from google)
This is a very handy in-line control that works with most Zaurus media players (i used it with Kino) to allow you to control the playback while the Zaurus remains closed in your pocket or bag.  Any set of earphones with a 2.5 mm stereo jack can be plugged into the control.  The one originally included may or may not be included if i can find it, but it wasn't particularly memorable, anyway.

Asking $25

Next up is a large and small battery (EA-BL06 and EA-BL08) for the Z, purchased from laptopsforless.  These are both marked '2004' and have been cycled at most 5 times each.

Asking $15 for the set

Sharp Zaurus AC adapter/charger.  I have two and only need one, so...

Asking $15

A leather case with snap.  Much like the one offered at the page linked at the top.  I can't recall where this came from originally, but it holds a spare stylus and memo pad, and has room for a few cards.

Asking $10

Last, but not least, a Pretec Compact WLAN CF wifi adapter.  It works great with the c860.

Asking $15

Thanks for your attention and here's to geek goodies.

When I removed the external power the screen went blank for a second and come back for two-three seconds only to go blank again by itself sometimes or the first time I would touch a key or the screen. This was repeatable with only opie reader running.
Different things happened after this depending on my actions
- If I plugged the power back in it would resume work "normally" without touching the power button.
- If I pressed the power button briefly it would sometimes flick on for a second or not then go blank again. It would not start anymore from the power button - external power or not. Reboot needed.

That's a problem I have also encountered - when you use the lowest brightness setting, sometimes the backlight gets switched off completely. Just use Fn+4 (increase brightness) and you should see something again. Took me a while to figure that out.

Yes, that's a well-documented and long-standing problem with Cacko ROM.  I remember it really had me freaked out the first time i encountered it.  Once you're aware of it, it's just a nuisance.

Regarding the sdl lib... does the best version depend on our Zaurus model?  I seem to recall that the new clamshells have a different graphics chip, so i assume that means a different optimized library.

Nope, no doubt about it: this thing just flies now.  Kudos on the optimizations.

In other news, I've ran into the alarm-applet bug, so I'll work on reproducing it and hopefully fixing it.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=88317\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

It happened again the other day after more than a week without the problem.  I had the Z plugged in, but on at the time.  The rest of the week it was off, but plugged in, when the alarm triggered -- i think.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=89236\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Any progress made on isolating and fixing this bug?  I've just upgraded from 2.1.10-ish to the most recent build, and will try out the alarm applet again to see if i still get the same problems.  KO/Pi does seem a lot faster than before.  Or is that just in my head?

Software / Kino2 0.4.3 Series Released
« on: September 15, 2005, 11:21:28 pm »
Looks good so far.  I am a bit confused, though: how does one disable the feed?  I was able to install from the command line using the --force-dependencies option.

One quick observation: when starting up, the program will audibly play a song, even if the mute is enabled.  Remuting will fix the problem.

Software / Kino2 0.4.3 Is Coming Out Soon!

I'm a bit late to this party, but i'm ready to ditch the new Sharp Music Player so i can access most of my music collection (oggs), and was casting lustful glances at Kino, in spite of our former falling out due to instability and power issues.

It's great to hear she's fresh back from the shrink, ready for another try.

Anyway, this talk about power management makes me wonder about the power consumption of the different players available.  I was reading the reviews for the C3000 on the zug homepage and noticed that one reviewer claimed to get over 12 HOURS of music playback with the C3000, claiming that was comparable to the C860.  Another review listed a much more credible figure.  I've never been able to get a full day's work worth of music from my c860, and was left wondering if there's something wrong with my player software, battery, or clock.

How much playback time does everyone else get from their Z?

Been there, done that.  I couldn't prove it's the alarm applet, nor will i waste any more time attempting to do so.  I'm just reporting (as i have before) that there are some serious problems with crashing that only occur after i install the /pi suite.  If i had any more details than i've shared in the past, i'd share them.

It's unfortunate.  I like the Z, and i like the functionality of the suite.

I guess the biggest thing keeping me from more actively using the the pim/pi apps is that i don't even use my Z much anymore because it has become so unstable since i started using the /pi apps.  I have upgraded to new versions three or four times, reflashed the cacko ROM twice, and this time forewent the installation of Kino, which seemed to be wreaking havoc on its own.

In spite of it all, my Z is still crashed and rebooted often (but not always) when i open it up after the alarm applet has triggered (as it does every morning).  It's frustrating.

Wow, you're a speedy guy.  Are you just locked in a box with nothing but a terminal or something?

Is the Undo menu option supposed to do something?  It keeps telling me "nothing to undelete" or something like that.

Being the doofus that i am, i find myself more frequently than i like to admit changing the range of a recurring event so that it disappears into the void.  How can i get such an even back without undo?
