For Sale / Wanted / Selling Your Z? May I Suggest...
« on: March 07, 2005, 08:01:52 pm »
Hmm, I understand.  "value-added" incentive aggressive bundling de-valuating the Z and therefore accelerating the rate of depreciation.  (Is a possible theory)

How about a a fellow z-geek just wanting to share the love?  You know you want it.  here it is with working hardware that kicks mucho ass.

OR how about this for a thought.  Take this Z quick before my wife's attorney takes it from my dead cold hands.  This Z is a free range lil' linux machine.  Because splitting me from the Z and watching her destroy it would hurt more than kick in the balls.

PLEAASE take it, taaake it.(lol)

OESF Announcements / Finally... The Big Announcement!
« on: January 13, 2005, 07:21:23 am »
First of all thankyou for all of your hard work and passion.  Linux-open source development is much like an art and in some ways a religion.  You definately don't do it for money and if it is beneficial monetarily you have most definately earned it.

A proverb I grew up with,  one who holds much cannot squeeze tightly.  I hope you all stay focused in your repective embedded projects.  Your respective projects is the momentum that drives this user forum.   I'm sure platforms and technolgy will change and become fragmented, just hoping ZUG doesn't become to thinly spread.

Good luck and I look forward to more Z compilations.

Hello fellow Z, Tmobile, RTM-8000 users!!

from my online scavanging, the ZipLinq 30" retractable nokia jack hands free head
item # C250-3654  seems to be the best hands free kit.  www.tigerdirect.com

OK, so is the serial_cs.o driver the issue??  How many of you have successfully made or recieved calls?  which version of minicom and are you using an ipkg or the binary?
many many permutations of success and implementation over seas in europe and I'd like to know what T-mobile success stories are available.
I haven't had any sucess with my z+T+RTM yet.  I did get a connection with AT&T though... borrowed simcard.

Is anyone using pdaxrom?

There is a gui phone dialing program in development.  Hopefully we'll see it sometime in the future.
You reading this Guyhelm?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Status Update..
« on: December 20, 2004, 07:37:36 pm »
Greetings everyone!
In the spirit of Christmas and true fraternal support of our Z- obsessions"let's try and give back a little to what pdaXrom does on merit alone".

I've got my wish list too!  Man, do I hope the next release makes it soon but this isn't a mission critical event in my life and patience will allow a better first release than several patch/fixes down the road.

How many of you know what holiday stress compounded with demanding clients and deadlines are like?  (I think all of you  ) PdaXrom produce and develop to a very fickle crowd, we are a "herd of cats".

A nice budget boost to R&D for pdaXrom will always benefit our wish list and longevity of pdaXroms' work! (win-win)

Merry Christmas everyone.

Sharp ROMs / What would you like to see in Cacko 1.22 ROM?
« on: November 23, 2004, 05:10:03 am »
how about a gui interface for cf gprs cards??  Now that would rock!  dial up , recieve calls, etc...  That would make sidekick2 look like a sorry excuse rip off of a z.  I was told that that zaurus used to bundle cf cards and the z in hong kong with dialup software.  No luck finding anything but perhaps someone with international connections can post something, please. (please)

it's not a pda dude, it's a freaking geek-saber man.

About Pat
His predicament is treatable with penicillin or tetracycline, high doses for a very long time.
http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec17/ch190/ch190b.html
is the only online free reference i could find.   Not a zaurus topic i know but should anyone have any medical questions please feel free to email me.  I'm a wannabe linux guy, full time pharmacist.
How about a medical zaurus program?  How many of you have kids?  ever want to double check or figure out how much xdrug to give your baby and how much you give in 24 hours? How about what drugs to not give, contra-indications, cross-sensitivities, etc....
(yes i know tx drug, not very impressive.  I'm still reading dietel&dietel how to program in C, so it'll be a while before i can contribute.)
Obviously we are all educated people in this forum.(self or formally educated.)
It's the knowledge gap that  frustrates us, so if your upto a free cup of coffee and scone of your choice? i'll meet you pretty much anywhere in central florida for a linux/z howto brainleech session.  (me getting info and if possible reciprocating.)

ELSI General Discussion / ZSI Name
« on: November 09, 2004, 05:07:35 am »
hmm, how bout a mapping a bunch of names, and put up the results in a poll.

my 2cents
generally speaking "branding" and the internet usually follow 2 simple rules.
1. try to limit your brand to 2 syllables
2. limit the number of constanents to an absolute minimum.
exception is if your name needs to be big, but you use an acronym.

we know it's linux so how about using penguin zoology>  rookery, nest,

types of penguins, King, Gentoo(taken), little blue penguin?lbp(smallest penguin?)

movie theme angle:
How about a penguin that looks like yoda?  Zoda, Software for zaurus, i have!hmm, hmm

non z names
Emsource
emdb
emfeed
moembed
uniteos
pimpware
Motusembd

random names
Uberdb
zoftware
zware
Zipk

howabout names that have nothing to do with linux/software/computers
roninblade
butterkicks
sweetpacket
minibig
quikfix
buzzkila
size1
sikred
nuhit(newhit)
bluelimit
tastyburger
icechili
veggiemeat

any animals anybody identifies with?
bull
penguin(obvious)
tiger
monkey
sapien

motto?

ps.  this is, if there is was a reason to have a zug meeting.  or call it a zug party near you.    Unless this is a private venture, please excuse my enthusiasm.  libations tend to motivate creativity.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Are you running pdaXrom and for what?
« on: November 03, 2004, 04:51:40 am »
Exhale..  Where do i begin.

I use pdaxrom,  for:
Minimo/dillo- web browse internet, locally hosted files i wrote about work related policies through

Apache - share, info with other people that have wifi at work so that they can see my info on work related policies

Commandline- what pda out there supports this other than a linux based one??  I practice shell commands and learn more scripting

KOPI-keeps me on time and keeps me from calling 411 or work related operator, great organizer.

all of the configurable utilities including overclocking.

abiword is nice and makes it easy to edit larger documents already written on a desktop.

I'd use the keyboard pic board more but the applet seems to be tempermental.

xmms is great for ogg/mp3

mplayer works fine, anybody making/using a skin?  it's a great way to show off pdaxrom and push zaurus.  Most folks look at a commandline and say what????..

Games-  well, i'd have bought a gameboy if  i really wanted to.

Gimp, I guess it works and then it doesn't.   I'll stick to graphics manipulation on the desktop or adobe.

VIM better than vi

xpdf no problems so far, use it all the time

Gaim, great for hotspots and open wireless locations...

kismet-  nice

nmap- haven't had the pleasure yet

less is more

locate is also great

phone software,  i'd buy a gprs card with a well written phone program in 2 seconds flat.  If any of you super phone phreaks are reading this pls.  pls.  write me.

thats about it.

wish list.
keymap list, what do what buttons do in which program.
xmms, jogdial of songs??
I'm sure it's foreign to most hardcore computer geeks but I enjoy running with my Z, while listening to tunes.  can't stop, whip out the stylus, select new song.
volume adjustment via keyboard or ???
How about the camera??  Got one of those for the sl5500, would be nice to be able to take video or stills.
