C1000/3x00 General discussions / C1000 Rom Support
« on: April 21, 2005, 10:39:04 am »
Thanks for the advice. I'm the owner of a 5500 so I've had my fair share of messing around with different ROM's .

I see there are a few guys selling the C1000 with an english version of the Sharp ROM, are there instructions how to do this? I wouldn't want to get the C1000 and sit around until there's a ROM available for it.

i'm currently developing an embedded linux for a Wireless ISP using a modified Gentoo distribution. maybe I should start playing around with the idea of starting a ROM...

Thanks once again!

Greetings all,

I've got a work colleque going over to Japan next week, and I was thinking of asking him to bing back an C1000. Which ROM's can I use with the C1000?

Is the C1000 that much different that the 870? I'm not to sure which one I should go for.

Thanks

Cxx0 General discussions / What's Better? Sl-6000 Or Sl-c860?
« on: February 03, 2005, 03:33:34 am »
Thanks for the additional comments. I'm  a unix sysadmin by trade so I have access to (many) unix/linux boxen all day to do various things with. The SL-C860 will be more of a PIM initially but will also be used for remote access when the need arises, some emulation game play (mame), software development when in really remote areas , and i don't think i'll be using an external keyboard... so, i'm 100% geared for getting the 860...

If anyone does come across a good deal, please let me know. I'm currently bidding for one on eBay, hopefully I get it.

What is a good price to pay for one just btw?

Greetings, I'm looking for a SL-C860 for shipping to South Africa. It has to be a good deal as the South African currency (Rand) sucks!

Kind thanks!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Senao Wireless CF card and OZ opie 3.5.1
« on: October 28, 2004, 08:13:04 am »
i should've replied last night... it ends up that the opie frontend wasn't commiting the config. surprise surprise.

i'm starting to find broken opie here, there and everywhere.

i'm seriously thinking of putting a ROM together using a gentoo base, and emerge for distributing pre-built binaries.

i shall call it GentooZ

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Senao Wireless CF card and OZ opie 3.5.1

I'm having problems getting my Collie to connect to my access point @ home. OZ picks up wlan0 and wifi0, the odd thing is that just the one (wifi0) picks up my AP if i 'sniff' for a ESSID. i give it an IP, and literally stand next to the AP and i cannot ping it. all my other wireless devices work. i'm thinking that maybe my Senao Wifi CF card may be at fault.

any suggestions?

Is it true that you can only flash a SL-5500 with a CF card? Or can you flash using an SD card?
