Greetings all,

I've got a work colleque going over to Japan next week, and I was thinking of asking him to bing back an C1000. Which ROM's can I use with the C1000?

Is the C1000 that much different that the 870? I'm not to sure which one I should go for.

Thanks

There are currently no other roms for the 1000. A rom for the 3000 is in Alpha, and we're expecting to get started on the 1000 next, which shouldn't be hard. (The 3000 and 1000 are very similar).

The 1000 has USB host, a better keyboard, and a very slightly faster processor. It is also cheaper than a new 860, if you could still find one. I'd recommend the 1000 over the 860.

SL-C3000: pdaXii13 5.4.7, SL-C3000 5.4.9 - microdrive replaced with 8gb Sandisk
SL-C1000: PDAXRom Beta3 | SL-6000L: Sharp 1.12 | SL-5500: Cacko, 64-0 kernel | SL-5000D: OZ-Opie

Thanks for the advice. I'm the owner of a 5500 so I've had my fair share of messing around with different ROM's .

I see there are a few guys selling the C1000 with an english version of the Sharp ROM, are there instructions how to do this? I wouldn't want to get the C1000 and sit around until there's a ROM available for it.

i'm currently developing an embedded linux for a Wireless ISP using a modified Gentoo distribution. maybe I should start playing around with the idea of starting a ROM...

Thanks once again!

I'm working now on building a oz image for the 1000. I've already managed to flash a working zImage (kernel), and opie. There is still some stuff to get up to speed, special keys don't work, etc. But things are starting to look good...

Hi Benplaut,

no, what he means is the backup file in the section
"Backup for download "
The NAND Backup is only the last resort for a Zaurus
that needs a complete new image. Normally a backup
set will do fine (and is much smaller).

And it's also a good idea to load the startupguide
from the same page. Just follow the instructions
in the section "Localisation after factory-reset".
