General Discussion / Windows synchronization software for 5500
« on: October 22, 2004, 11:03:39 am »
Hi

I installed OZ 3.5.1 on my 5600 and now I'm having problems synchronizing the PIM applications with outlook. I was told that it should work if I used the synchronization software provided with the 5500, but I don't seem to be able to find it anyware.

Can someone tell me where can I find it?

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I think Hancom Office is not supported in OZ 3.5.1.

however the older version of intellisync (which came with the 5500 2.xx ROMs) used to work.

So, the new version of intellisync doesn't work, but the old one does...weird!

I'll give it a try, though!

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer!

Which software are you using (for file transfer as I don't sync)?

I was trying to use the sharp file transfer software.

Can you get an ssh connection up (try putty)?

I haven't tried a ssh connection yet...I guess that will be my next step.

But for me the most imporant thing was to be able to synchronize with outlook...if I'm not able to do it, I guess I'll have to return to the old sharp ROM and wait for OZ 3.6.0 to be released...

Do "modprobe usbdcore;modprobe net_fd;modprobe pxa_bi" in shell on 5600 - this will resolve USB problem.
I've tried doing you sugested, and there's a small improvement: windows xp now recognizes the zaurus and installs the appropriate drivers.

However, I'm still unable to synchronize or to transfer any files. When I try it, the zaurus hangs and I'm forced to do a hard reboot.

I've searched the OZ site and found some bug reports which resemble the problems I'm having. Unfortunatly I didn't find any solution...

Can anyone help me?

Thanks again

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.5.1 problems

Hi

I've instaled OZ 3.5.1 OPIE in my 5600 and I have a few questions:

When I put the zaurus in the craddle, I get an unknown device message in windows XP and I'm not able to send anything via USB. Naturally, I also cannot synchronize anything with outlook.

My questions are:

1. Is this normal? If I decide to stick to OZ I won't be able to use the USB craddle to send files or synchronize with Outlook?

2. If this is not normal, what can I do to try and solve the problem?

I was enjoying OZ a lot more than the original Sharp ROM, but if synchronization is not possible, I'll have to revert to the original sharp ROM...

Thanks in advance

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Probably a stupid question about OZ installation

Ahhhhhhhh, ok.

So the zImage file is the "zImage.bin.forPoodle"...

I guess i was confused by the ".img" extension in the file name.

Thanks guys!

Hi

You're right, of course, I forgot to mention that I was using a 5600.

But my question remains: in the readme file the initrd.bin is mentioned, but its not available for download in that site. Can I proceed with the flashing without it?

Thanks

I've decided to install the latest version of the OpenZaurus (3.5.1, I think). I went to the site and I downloaded the zImage.img and the updater.sh, but I don't seem to be able to find the initrd.bin (the root fs).

Is this normal? Should I proceed with the flashing even without the missing (?) file?

Thanks in advance
