did you use the same configure parameter as I wrote in this thread?
Could your write some instructions what you did to get it running. This would be nice!!!

sorry, no configuration necessary it seems.  if you don't necessarily need apache2, just install apache 1.3 and modphp5 from the feed I posted.  This puts libphp5.so in libexec subdirectory in apache, and the httpd.conf is already configured to work with it.  I believe there are some libraries that need to be installed if they aren't already but the error messages when trying to start apache should let you know what they are.  

Also, if you want this to work with apache2, I found that I needed to install it manually from an ipk because the one from the tyrannozaurus pdaxrom feed had some weird depends assigned to it which messed things up a bit for me.

OK, I got the LAMP server up and running natively in pdaxrom and it is decently fast.  

I found everything needed at this feed

so ipkg install mysql-server mysql-client apache

I ran into trouble with the PHP.  I first used the php5 module in the feed and was able to get it to work with apache after downloading a few more libraries.
Then I realized that php5 is not natively compatible with mysql.  if you want to use php5 with mysql you have to compile it using a specific command to add support.  
I had some trouble installing php4 from the tyrannozaurus feeds so decided to compile it myself.  

EDIT:  disregard what I said about this php5 module not having native mysql support.  It DOES have it as well as a few more useful modules.


I'm configuring a wordpress site on the zaurus right now and will be interested to see how that turns out.

I would also be very happy to see a working LAMP for pdaxrom.  I was hung up on my latest attempt to get things working.  I was able to get Apache2 running and serving a web page, but I couldn't get mysql running.  I believe I installed apache from http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/feed/ and mysql from http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/custom

I was using the stock pdaxrom, not meanie's.  what hung me up on the mysql was that I could never find mysql.sock anywhere on the system.  Also everything installed was in unstandard locations.

Thanks Cresho for helping me out.  I got it working, but I have to start it from the command like with sudo.  Running it as zaurus won't work, and I can't start it with the icon even if I tell it to run with root enabled.  

Also, there is a strange thing going on.  I have two wireless networks in my house, one WEP encrypted and one not.  I can only run Gaim from behind the unencrypted router.  Also, If I change networks on my zaurus, I have to reboot and change it back before I can get gaim to work again.  Just curiosities.

i got a list going to get gaim working.  gona post right now.

im gona list the files you need to run gaim

on the c1000 but still works for yours as well...all to main memory

after install, remove magnification by holding down on gaim icon (2sec) and remove magnification, reboot, then run program, create user (i tried msn cuz i hear others might have a problem), after you create your account, shut down program and restart. and log in. It takes time for you to get use to it. it works and when you log in, the only way you find out if you logged in is if you click on the right icons...it swings back between logged accounts and your friendly list. on the left, you can highlight the guy you want to chat with and then you click on chat icon and chat away. you can have multiple chat windows open within gaim.

that was from a previous post a couple of notches down.  it works.  after you insta.., fiddle with it and it works.

all installed to internal only or it wont let you or may not work.

Thanks for those tips. I got the program up and running, but I can't seem to get connected to the network.  I press connect, it stays at 2% indefinately.  I have proxy turned off like it should be, and I am using the default AIM oscar.  Any ideas?

I know there are alot of threads on here, but I am just having a persistant problem.

I have installed
libgaim version .73-1
libgaim-protocol-irc .73-1
libopie1 version 1.0.2
libpng12.so with the simlinks as documented on qpe-gaim sourceforge page.

I get gaim to start, but I still don't get the icons to show up so I can't select menus and start chatting.

could anyone please tell me what to do or know of any other chatting program?

First, let me say thanks to Meanie for all his hard work in getting this packaged; the X/QT package installed without a hitch on my c1000.

The debian jumbo package installed without an error with the script Meanie wrote.  

There seems to be a problem launching debian though.  The PocketWorkstation icon in the X/QT tab, when clicked, launches X/QT with blackbox, but debian and ICEWM doesn't appear.  The same happens when xlauncher debian is input from the terminal.
It became clear to me that debian wasn't running when I tried to start IceWM and it complained about a library.

I'll try the installation with another pocketworkstation package to see if the problem is solved.

Okay it looks like the community feeling is to work upon the current site - I can't say I think the same way - I think we need to think about what it should include at the start rather than adding stuff on later on - but I'm very keen to help out improve the current site.

Dz: Is there any chance I could have a look at the source - the SourceForge site says there aren't any files for the project.

my current workaround is to pop that line into the xserver args in /usr/X11R6/bin  and save it as startxm ( for mouse) this way if I want to use the mouse I start X with startxm  if not jist plain old startx

thank you adf, that was precisely what I was looking for.  My mouse now works.

Strangely enough, when I startxm, it starts as portrait mode.  When I click on 'rotate' in the menu, It rotates the screen as an upside down landscape.  The same thing happens when I rotate the clamshell into PDA form.

It is easy to fix with xrandr -o right but I just thought it was curious that it happened.

Quick fix:

just type this when after you login to your zaurus

"startx -mouse /dev/input/mouse0""

I am getting an error with this.  xserver does not
recognise xserver as an arguement.  any other solutions?

First, I would like to thank the pdaxrom team for making this beautiful rom.  

I am running a C1000 with RC10, and am having a couple of issues.

First, I would like to get my usb mouse to work.  I read where Laze posted

To enable mouse support edit startx and add "-mouse /dev/input/mouse0" in xserver args.

Im not very experienced with Linux and this went over my head.  Where can I edit startx to do this?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / C1000 Rc10 Is Out

I'm looking forward to when the partitioning is fixed.  The package manager only wants to install apps to / and to /mnt/card and root only has 14megs free    even worse, after I installed firefox, root only had 2.6mb free!  (I prefer to have a single large root partition.)

Also a minor thing, the right shift and cancel keys don't work.

Would it be possible for one to work around this from the terminal?  How can I install ipks to the internal flash(non-root)?
