Hardware Mods / Modding Power Button
« on: February 15, 2008, 06:52:13 pm »
Hiya,

I have a SL-6000 that works great except it has a sticky power button. If I shut down using the OS, after a few minutes the screen will pop back awake because the power button hit something that made my Zaurus turn on. Once I've got it on and I'm using it, that power button might decide to stick again and turn the power off again. I would like to remove the power button so it doesn't interfere with using the software to turn the Zaurus on and off. Can anyone recommend how to do this, and if there are any safety issues?

Thanks,

6000 - Tosa / Sticky Power Button

After several years of use, my power button on my Zaurus has become sticky and won't rest in an on or off position. Is there some way I can fix this? It works fine otherwise.

Is it possible to use Intellisync to link with Outlook Express, rather than various versions of the full Outlook program?

6000 - Tosa / Sharp Original Rom In Zaurus Sl6000l
« on: April 26, 2006, 09:26:31 pm »
I use the original ROM and I've been happy with it. I didn't think the benefit of the other ROMs was worth the effort or risk of flashing. For me, the 6000 hardware has been more restrictive than the ROM in terms of what apps I use--it's not fast enough for video or games, or at least not without significant tweaking.

Software / Keroplayer

Installing either keroplayer or the rbconv ipk trashed my Calendar software so that it would not open nor would it sync at all with my XP pc and Intellisync.
Am in the process of trying to install it without rbconv to see if it's the fault of keroplayer or the rbconv.

tombraider, did you ever figure out what the issue was here, keroplayer or rbconv? Anyone using this ap got any hints on a successful install?

I use JustReader 2.0k  and read .gtn files with it all the time on a C1000 Cacko Rom.  Just opened some up a minute ago so what is the "bug"???

I also use JustReader to read project Gutenburg files, but I download them to the desktop as text files and then put them on my Zaurus.

The bug with Gutenbrowser can be found listed in the bugtracker on the sourceforge page for this project (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=870235&group_id=13697&atid=113697). For some reason, the list of available texts loads, but the actual e-book will not load.

I get by fine with JustReader, I just think the idea of Gutenbrowser is cool so I wish it worked better.

I un-rar on the desktop and then dump my .jpg files to CF card, which works fine.

Does anyone know what the dependencies are for abookreader? Do you need ruby installed, like the other app?

Software / Qtella?

Yeah, I tried it and got a connection error that I could never get past. When I tried to solve the problem by searching online, I found references to the same error occurring on desktop linux but no answers as to how to solve it. But this was all some time ago.

it needs ruby and ruby-qte installed (both in the cacko-feed)

I found Ruby in the Cacko feed but got an error when I tried to download ruby-qte. Anyone know what's up?

I've gotten Gutenbrowser to work with both the original Sharp ROM and Cacko on my C1000...don't know anything about OpenBSD.  I DID have to "fiddle" to get it to work though.

You didn't happen to write down what you fiddled with?
