I'll add also that this part of the forum has a sticky thread with rules:

"I've created a new area of the forum for people who wish to sell Zaurus-Related items (heh you double sure you wanna sell your Zaurus? You're losing out buddy!) and those who want Zaurus-Related items. "
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=146519\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks for the reminder pgas

Well, I better get out of this thread as you'll have to pry my Z from my cold dead hands before I part with it!

I know it's a bit odd in this area, but I am in the need for a decent 6MP digital camerawith at leat a 10X optical zoom. In addition to my regular job, I am doing some freelance photography, and my old digital camera broke. If anyone has a used one in good condition please let me know, which I can pay by Paypal.

I'm not passing any kind of judgment here but this is interesting considering this past post from this user (note the second paragraph):

************************************************

I know a lot has been said about me in the past, but I still want to be part of this community and I want to set the record straight. I have had my idenity stolen from me three times in the past five years, which had me back out of some deals that happened in here. I did try to trade my Treo 650GSM for a Simpad from Dr. Asnar from France, but my Treo got damaged and was returned to me, and his Simpad never reached me. As for Tony LaCour and the trade for his HP Ipaq 2750, I never set that up, that was someone else who used my good name. It took three months and the help of the authorities to track them down and return Mr. LaCour's property.

I do want to be part of this community, I just recently purchased a new Zaurus SL-C3100 from Ebay, and I need some help in setting it up, I have no want or need to trade/sell in this community, I only want to participate in the discussion forums.

I invite any advice in learning about my new Zaurus, but I do not want any unjustified abuse.

I'm an idiot. It's all working now (not sure why since /dev/ttyS03 and /dev/ttyS3 are different but who cares).

Sharp ROMs / Argghhh! Cf Gps Stopped Working!
« on: June 26, 2006, 05:06:03 pm »
Hi folks,

I have a generic CF GPS (holux clone) that I've been successfully using for the last while. I've had to reflash Cacko lite a few times but have had no problems getting everything up and running again... until now.

I can no longer connect to the aforementioned GPS. Dmesg indicates that it is now on /dev/ttyS03 instead of the expected /dev/ttyS3. As an added bonus /dev/ttyS03 doesn't exist and I can't convince the MAKEDEV script to create it.

I'm at the end of rope on this one and would greatly appreciate any pointers/clues/outright solutions. So, any ideas?

Thanks,
Sleepy

fpp, I see, that makes sense. I guess I should provide a coupe of metapackages and/or perhaps a huge ipk that contains a lot.

Thanks for continuing to provide these packages Mickey. I like your feed as it lets me install what I need to flash so that I can script without my SD card if I need to. Also, it looks like OZ 3.5.4.1 is looking good for Akita. Might have to try it whenI have time

Accessories / Usb Keyboard Recommendations
« on: June 18, 2006, 05:50:45 pm »
I've had no luck on getting a keymap for this keyboard that recognizes some of the keys on the right side. It seems that pressing those keys does not produce any output so I don't know how one would even remap them in the first place.

This is with a C1000 on Cacko.

zipzoomfly  has a 4 gig sd card for sale for $91 usd.  I' just oredered one, as I liked the price and have other sd stuff that can use it if my Z can't.  Any one else try one of these yet?

Yup, I got one a while back. It works out of the box on OZ GPE 3.5.4.1-rc2 (kernel 2.6) as well as Cacko 1.23 with tetsu's sd/mmc driver package installed (search the sharp ROM forum for details). I've since reformatted it ext2 and it's fine (needed to use fdisk from OZ).

Enjoy the new card

Really?  you actually understood it?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=126318\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Actually, I had tried to do the same on my laptop running Ubuntu but fdisk thought it was a 1 GB card (kernel 2.6.15.1). I'm guessing the 2.6.16 that comes with OZ allows fdisk to properly recognize the full 4GB. I did decide to format it ext2 instead of fat16 for improved flexibility (partition type 83 followed with an mkfs.ext).

Just so this isn't totally offtopic, the card did work well with Cacko 1.23 as well (C1000) but with Tetsu's updated sd driver package.

Thanks again for your help

easy....boot up your handheld and stick in your sd card.
open up terminal

okay do this first.
Code: [Select]
su
fdisk /dev/mmcda1
d
1
d
2
d
3
d
4
the d=delete and the 1-4 reffers to the partitions you created.  delete all

now create your partition table
Code: [Select]
n
p
1
1
988(this part select the highest number which will tell you in the line..so for my 2gb i did 988 cuz it asks me 1-988----and yours the number is much higher.this part is self explanatory)

now you are ready to create type of format.

Code: [Select]
t
6
w
the t=change partition id, 1=selects partition you want to mess with, 6=tells it to do fat16, w=tells it to write.
now you have fat16.  you must reboot or what ever so your permissions can revert back to normal.  I dont want to bable on changing permmissions.

and another thing, this should not be here.  should be in oz forums.  this is the sharprom forums.

Sharp ROMs / Fubar'd My 4 Gb Sd -- Please Help
« on: May 08, 2006, 11:22:40 pm »
Hey folks,

I picked up a 4 GB SD card which worked wonderfully with Cacko using the new SD module and also worked out of the box  with OZ GPE 3.5.4.1-beta2 (A-data 150X -- ~ $100 USD from zipzoomfly.com). Of course, not willing to leave well enough alone I decided I want to format it ext2 to faciliatate symlinking on the card. So, after foolishly messing about with mkfs.ext2 and fdisk on my linux machine I now have a SD card that thinks it's 1 GB

Ideally I would like a 4 GB ext2 card but right now I would love to have it back to it's old 4 GB vfat self. I'm hoping that some fdisk guru can walk me through some incantation to restore it back to the right cylinder size, # of sectors, etc. If anyone has any other ideas I'm all ears -- you'll have my undying gratitude.

Thanks,
Sleepy

Sleepy,

Do you use the msmtp-* scripts to "compose mails offline" or as an "offline mail reader" as you mentioned above?

After some very minor tweaking I am able to compose mail with pine, offline and send immediately if online (or later by running the msmtp-runqueue script manually).

I just wanted to be sure I am not missing the "offline mail reader" component of these scripts before I delve into the mail reading side of my mail setup.

Thanks

Sorry, my bad. I've got pretty much the same setup as you from the sound of things.

Speaking of my bads, the fetchmail-6.2.5 package doesn't have SSL support, as revealed by a fetchmail -V, despite the configure script indicating that it would. So, I've packaged up the most recent fetchmail-6.3.1 with SSL (I promise) and NLS.

Thanks DrWowe, sleepy, maslovsky, I shall await the ipk for fetchmail and friends.

Okay, here they are

Oh, one other thing. The ipkg-build.sh script didn't work for me on cacko (complained that tar couldn't handle compression). Installing busybox didn't help either so I made some minor changes (piping the tar output to gzip and redirecting to a file in a few places) to get the script working on my Akita. So here is the modified script (gzipped because the site is not happy with shell scripts being uploaded):
