Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / CODI update

Note the below part of the linked instructions, which was required for me - selecting either image file from the Downloads section of the file selector view caused the CoDI Assistant to instantly crash.

On the file selector view, you might have to tap on the "Show Internal storage" option under the more option icon on the top right of the screen (the icon with the 3 round dots).

I would expand on this to say you need to then select Internal Storage from the drawer and browse to the file from there. I know there are a number of file access APIs in Android, and my guess is this method passes the file back to the app using a different mechanism.

Thank you for this advice - this restored my ability to "Flash Image Manually" after the Cover Display Assistant would crash immediately on selecting an image file. I was able to complete the Codi update (2 attempts to do the firmware) and restore my unresponsivce Codi.

Planet looked at my failed Cosmo after a week (once it had got to the top of their service queue) and were unable to resuscitate it.
They sent me out a replacement (new) unit on Friday which arrived on Saturday.

So, on the whole, good service from Planet (Thank You) but rather disconcerting to have experienced a quite unexplained failure resulting in a completely dead unit.

...both post-ers said their problems began with Waze.

I had been using Google Maps for my driving instructions, not Waze.
And navigation was shutdown for the last 15 mins or so of my journey.

There was no further succour to be had from Planet...just the instruction (and return code) to send it back.
I'll dispatch it tomorrow, now that the New Year disruptions have settled.

Sadly, my Cosmo too seems to have expired.

I've been using it as my main device since it arrived at the end of November.
I updated it with the new software and Cover Display s/w mid-Dec.
All was going well.

After Christmas I had been using it in the car for navigation for a few hours (powered, so the battery was fully charged).
After removing it from my pocket when I was back in the house, it had turned off.

Nothing could bring it back to life - both screens quite unresponsive.

Planet suggested a reset option:
 - power left-hand-socket for 30m
 - hold Esc for 20s
 - release for 3s
 - hold Esc again for 3 sec
...but that had no effect.

My device is currently packed up, ready to ship back to Planet after New Year.

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Tested microSD cards?
« on: May 28, 2018, 08:20:38 am »
Last week I bought one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-microSDXC-...e/dp/B073S99KPQ - 200GB for £55 and am using that in my Gemini. The Gemini formatted it as FAT32 and it happily holds my >~130GB collection of audio media.

I put the sdcard in my Windows laptop to do the initial bulk copy of data from my network file server.

For subsequent updates I'll probably use the ES File Explorer Pro Android app.

I have a similar issue and emailed hello@planetcom.co.uk a few days ago.

Robin replied the following day, but I imagine/hope he'll be busy sending out UK Geminis this week!
