Yes, I  found out why it wasn't working! it has two different settings for it.

1 display- advanced-auto rotate screen

2 app bar-planet-app bar-settings(next to selectable apps)-uncheck force

& hey presto

Also, there is Home Settings - Allow Homescreen rotation.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Manual CoDi flash
« on: February 24, 2020, 03:59:58 am »
OK, it works. For general reference, here's the sequence of events
  • Download the 2 files to /Dowmload (don't try this from Google Drive, it won't work)
  • Airplane Mode ON
  • Open Codi Assistant
  • press Advanced
  • Select Flash Image manually
  • Navigate to /Download and select the Firmware file, not the Resource file
  • At this stage you get thrown back to the desktop with the message that Codi Assistant keeps crashing. Ignore it. it is actually still running.
  • Re-open Codi Assistant
  • Press Flash Now
  • Spend the next twenty minutes in silent prayer.
  • Airplane Mode OFF
My working theory is that Codi Assistant was stuck on an incomplete download. By pointing it to a valid set of files I managed to clear that problem.

It's worth it. My Cosmo is running MUCH cooler and it looks like the battery will last better.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Manual CoDi flash

Yes, I've tried the Flight Mode, Wifi Off, Do Not Disturb tips and my Cover Display is still not flashing.

There's a function to flash it manually, but where are the downloaded firmware files stored? I'll probably try deleting and re-downloading them first, if I can find them (No, they are not in Downloads).

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Flash drive + Cosmo cable + adapter problem
« on: February 11, 2020, 02:25:21 am »
I don't think the adapter is the problem. I have a USB-C flash disk like this one

and cosmo recognition of it is a hit-or-miss affair. It takes several insertions to show up, and then some programs will find it and others won't. Looks like a firmware problem to me.

One additional app worth mentioning is Joplin. It is a multiplatform Markdown editor that syncs via Dropbox. Slightly tricky to set up the syncing, but once it's up and running I can write on the cosmo and seamlessly continue working on my Linux and Widows boxes.
