Did you figure out a fix? That is super annoying and I have it too.

When I tried to repeat the issue this morning, I cannot... Suddenly CoDI controls during call work.

I did not reboot the phone or anything like that.

Clearly they are not broken all the time. I guess we need to find out what the conditions for lost controls are...

After a full reboot (turned off phone, turned back on) they *still* work.

Somebody on indiegogo mentioned to turn off Standby Intelligent Power Saving then turn it back on and what do you know it started working again

Update it's only temporary. On screen controls weren't working again today. Had to cycle it again.

Am I hallucinating, or did Planet get rid of the maddening Mute button on the COvID screen? If I'm not, THAT'S a relief, no more of people hanging up because they thought they had been disconnected.

I just noticed. They got rid of *all* call controls in that screen. Nothing works. Mute, switching to speakerphone, nada.

Frankly, I would call that improvement...

Also, just noticed that they have published a more detailed changelog at http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/L..._Cosmo_Firmware - it's not that verbose, especially they are not expanding much on "bugfixes", but it's there.

New FW battery is really good ! Old FW in the mornin without chargin the phone would be dead in the morning. Now itwas over 40% !
i dont notice any odd behavour with the new FW like the rest.
Only hoping that the modem will work under linux, tried a lot but no luck.
device gets better with every update

Had a couple issues with the new firmware, namely never had problems with Codi crashing before but do now after using it open....the fix just pushed requires a FULL WIPE!!!

You know they made a very thought out super-duper intelligent product for equally super intelligent human beings like us who fail to understand simple thing that android is a super desktop operating system copmared to primitive os ike linuxes etc. and everything looks super cool on a external monitor on android, linux is made for alien who can do desktop comuting on a 7" screen with xray eyes ! they are even making new device versions with even better desktop grade android.

Yes, I agree that it is unfortunate that the HDMI cable doesn't work under Linux, but I think that the reason for not fixing this issue is a different one. A more probable reason is that the MTK driver for the cable is closed source and that Mediatek won't release the sources to Planet, and maybe to anyone else. So a driver might be developed only by reverse engineering the existing one, something that Planet might be not allowed to do.

Varti, the cellular stack, bt and wifi and hardware acceleration are all closed source android.

Linux utilizes libhybris as a wrapper for the android blobs, so it is strange that hdmi was not included

This device works exactly as designed and intended, so no it isn't "broken," and it isn't "garbage"

CoDi is designed to consume vast amounts of battery and respond so sluggishly as to be largely unusable?  Let's be honest here.  It is, in its current state, "broken".

Hopefully its performance can be greatly improved through software updates, but it's quite clear that currently, it is most certainly not "working exactly as designed and intended".

Hmm I guess i don't use it. Often.

Sure it can be improved, but that's a far cry from unusable

I've logged a bug for this because I'm having similar problems with other apps.

For example, in Telegram, if I try to take a photo within the app, the scaling of the live view is all distorted.

I use another app called Zipgrade that scans test papers, but I can't use it on Cosmo because the camera view is so distorted that I can't get the boxes in the camera view and on the test papers to line up.

In both cases, rotating the screen does nothing to help - sometimes it just makes the distortion even worse.

Same. I'm not super concerned because that is a minor issue to me

You might find that the distortion is due to the rotation.  I've seen this happen in several apps on my Cosmo, including a QR reader app along with other apps.

Have you tried to force-rotate the app when the camera image is distorted?

I have moderated your post since with it the thread was starting to become a list of personal insults. But yes, you are right that it isn't polite to call the Cosmo a "broken garbage", although I understand the frustration when a device this expensive doesn't meet your expectations.

Let's rather focus on what could be the improvements on the software side. I really hope to see a future CoDi update with a smoother UI, for example.

The address book in CoDi's phone app does appear to be broken - it doesn't show any contact beyond L for me and this appears to be a common problem.

It also needs to be more discriminating in accepting inputs - I'm hep to the vibe that accepting cover touch input is a feature, not a bug, but as no-one seems to know how it's meant to work it's feeling fairly bug-like at the moment; there needs to be a setting to disable the cover input when the device is open.  Similarly, it would be good if it could detect when it is near a face during a call or in a pocket and disable input in these situations - does the device have a suitable proximity sensor?

My phone book has all contacts, but I do recognize that is a common issue.

Agree it would be nice to not trigger touch with your face on a call, Perhaps the screen off setting on codi while in call could only be cancelled by the silver button on top? Since the speaker is on the angled top i make sure that it is on my ear and the body and screen angles away from my face so I don't touch the screen with my face.

As far as the pocket, the screen doesn't accept touch input aside from the passcode/fingerprint when locked so I have never had it trigger anything in my pocket.

For me, the battery lasts for day and a half with CoDi on, so it's quite all right. Anyway, I expect that the next FW update will improve this bit significantly. Hopefully it also fixes the few other problems with CoDi.

I get the same and OP gets 2 days. Most plug in at night so it's pretty much a non issue for most.

I would like to be able to see mms pictures on codi. Also slight annoyance but marking a text as read instructs me to open the cosmo. I can back out via right rocker button and it performed the action so not a huge deal.
