I just got my tax refund check and am itching to spend it on a Sl-C1000. I was hoping to get one with a few accessories for under 350. I would appreciate any replies.

Hi, I am just starting to learning about Zaurii by reading through these forums and am interested in a C1000 with accessories (preferably wireless card and host cable).  I am also willing to pay up to approx. US$350 depending on accessories and shipping cost (I live in the US).  Any responses welcome.  Thanks!

Is the 5500 still for sale?

How old is it? As long as the battery is generally on par with a new one, then I'm interested.

Also, if you haven't already, you might want to make sure the CF card is FAT16 formatted rather than FAT32. Of course, if that's the case, I might have just lost a good deal. :\

Thanks.

Sorry, it is gone.

I am also selling my C1000 ... ole eyes are objecting to the small display!

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Fs: Selling My C1000
« on: March 17, 2006, 10:20:20 pm »
My eyes are just too old for my Sharp Zaurus C1000 handheld Linux PC.
Much as I love it and how much better it is than my old 5500
it is not going to work for me.  ;-(

I need to use a compact or full size laptop instead, despite the bulk.

I have $375. in it, including the Socket Bluetooth CF adapter and the
clever compact AC charger.  I will include a carrying case, designed
for a camera but holds the C1000 perfectly.  For an additional $45.
will include the SanDisk ConnectPlus CF WiFi card/memory device
with the pcmcia adapter.  (Shipping is whatever it is, no handling or
packing charges.)

It is loaded with the CACKO OS and some other stuff.  It is in
excellent condition.

Thanks!  doc

Software / Any Free Bible Software?

I've been working on a piece of software with similar functionality to plucker desktop but which isn't so heavily tied to the palm format (leading to poor compression) or to python (making it too slow to run on the Zaurus). As a quick test I decided to run the Net Bible though it (but not on the Zaurus - that wouldn't work on my SL5000 8^). I've ended up with a file 4.6MB in size with reasonably fast random access (especially when you consider that decompression happens on the fly to save on memory and disk space).

It should work with the latest version of opie-reader (or I can supply my latest stable version if it doesn't) but I have no way of hosting/sending it to anyone. If anyone does want it and can allow me temporary access to ftp the file to them (especially if they can host the file afterwards if anyone else is interested) by all means PM or mail me (timwentford AT hotmail DOT com). Or can I upload it here (if there is sufficient interest)?

You do lose the frames but everything else seems intact. And opening the file is a bit slow.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=117913\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I'd say upload it here!  It makes for a stable long-term host to which we may direct others.

I have a C1000 with Cacko, don't know if it would work or not.

What about this hardshell Palm One case?

I cannot find dimensions.  Anyone know if the C1000
would fit?

do you have pictures?  And, what does the CF slot NOT do?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=116906\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Minor scuffs to the edges, display is clean .  I can take a picture
or two if you like.

The CF slot is unresponsive.  I have tried a variety of commands
and resets and cannot get it to interact properly with a CF card.

It does recognize that a device has been inserted but after that
nada.

I now have a C1000 and too many other projects to mess with
it.

I have another question. What free translation most closely resembles NIV?
Thanks,  --Storm

I would recommend the NET Bible.

... doc

hmm, I don't think that answers his question at all.

I am not sure how it fails but please permit me to state it more simply.

I would recommend the NET Bible.

The NIV was originally contracted as a HS-age translation but when they
discovered churches were using them as pew rack Bibles they discontinued
mention of that.

There are many "in order to simplify" compromises made in the NIV that round
the edges of complete accuracy for the sake of a less challenging read for HS
students.

The NET is a very modern translation that is also very readable and it
educates the reader who chooses to refer to the included translator's
notes about the shades of meaning that challenge translators.

Most of the other free translations are very old and suffer from no-longer-
accurate English dialects or are biased toward a peculiar theological philosophy.

IMHO, YMMV ... doc

Serial IO makes whats called a MHpower adapter that works great on the Zaurus it is located here http://www.streamlinecpus.com/store/produc...52&cat=3&page=2
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=104862\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I can vouch for the product that Stephen is pointing out.  I've used it for a while now with both SL-5500's and SL-6000's.  I've thrown a meter on it and scoped it and it's rock solid.  For the price it just doesn't make much sense to gamble on anything else.

-NeuroShock
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=105171\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

What did you see when you scoped this, please?

Voltage?

What does it say is it's max. current capacity?

It is both a dc-dc converter that drops 12-13.8VDC down to 5.x VDC but also regulates
the output?

Does it filter the output for noise?

Did you notice if it generates any significant RF noise?
(I worry about unintentional RF noise generators as I am an Amateur Radio operator.)

Thanks!  doc
