were you able to get Wellenreiter to run?  I got it to start but it gives me an error when I try to start scanning.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I have mixed success on it running.

It runs from the terminal only as non root. It does not run from the Icon

When it runs i cannot select device despite configuring a dummy network connection as described here [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14941&st=15]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14941&st=15[/url]

Not sure what to try next

Thanks Cresho,
What does the "name" section under interface say for you Cresho?  Mine is blank.  I don't understand how this program works but maybe it can't find my network scripts?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=95760\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

it says wlan0 under name and wlanf-ng under driver

make sure you are using my ipk,s i posted.

try installing this from a fresh install of the zaurus.  i mean backup and restore os like if it came from the factory.

i did the installs and can assure you that nothing else is needed.  use the ipk i listed and not yours.

it is most likely it does not find your card.  try the ipk.s i stated.  if you cant find em, email me and ill send em to you

Sharp ROMs / Wireless Problems On Cacko/ Tk Roms
« on: September 14, 2005, 02:21:27 am »
Hi everyone

I made the big mistake last week and re flashed my 5500 in an effort to get Wellenreiter to work. Now i get different results everytime i flash either Cacko or TheKompanyROM.

My setup:
SL5500
256 SD card, 64m CF
Pretec WLAN
Cacko 64/0 or theKompany alpha3 32/30
updated Cacko kernel with either 64/0 or 32/30 depending on base install.

After flashing i add

Card "Pretec CompactWLAN 802.11"
manfid 0x0156, 0x0002
bind "prism2_cs"

to wlan-ng.conf

I define a new WLAN setup

Now sometimes i get the network applet, sometimes not. If i don't the card lights up immediately but iwconfig shows nothing.

If i do get the applet when i try to connect i get the Card light flashing and initializing, for a few seconds and then it dies.

Cardctl ident correctly identifes the card

As i said i get different results with each flash.

any help greatly appreciated

Hi Airwolf, you need the version of Intellisync that comes with the upgrade to 3.13 Sharp rom.

I've had very litle problem running this version of TKC  and I've found that Treeexplorer works very nicely with it as does kdepimpi. The combination of home on SD and those two apps makes my 5500 a much more useful object. However, I spend much more time on my 860 these days.

I did try the Cacko kernel and the Async, but seemed to find a few problems and irritations so went back to the alpha kernel.

Cheers

hey Tux

forgot to ask.... I downloaded this [a href=\"http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/kdepimpi/kdepim_2.2.3_for_SharpRom.ipk.zip?download]http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/kdepimp...pk.zip?download[/url]

but when i try to install any of the files i get an error message "The filename of this package includes character this application can't handle. Please change the filename and retry install"

any ideas

thanks

Sorted it out - read somewhere else that the SD card can be slow. Let Opera do its stuff and all working.

thanks for your help

Can I ask where you got the tkRom files from??

I have been trying to install this for about a week.

I got the files from

http://kflog.org/~axel/GPS-CF_HOW_TO-TKROM...pha3.HowTo.html

The site has instructions for installing and the files for the Alpha3 rom.  But when I try loading these to my CF card and flashing as per the instructions the mail and power lights flash instead of staying on and the only way to stop the process is to perform a hard reset.  So I'm not sure if it's the files or me

Any help or guidance would be really welcome.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

hi JacX

got mine form here

[a href=\"http://www.zaurususergroup.org/UpDownload+index-req-viewsdownload-sid-31.phtml]http://www.zaurususergroup.org/UpDownload+...ad-sid-31.phtml[/url]

You will need the alpha initrd and a zImage file.

Make sure you CF card is formatted as windows FAT (NOT FAT32). Press the C and D buttons at the same time as the reset button at the back near the battery. Also remember to press the reset button again after the flash has completed

if you are still having problems post again

Hello!
Well, about the async kernel,I have the same trouble but with my modem, this is the issues:
1) My Targus Pocket Modem 56k v.90 works fine with others roms but with the async it had the same bug, I made the settings but no connections icon appears, only appears the icon if I made an IR dialup connection BUT in that case, DONT appears the modem connection and only appears the IR Dialup connection.
2) The IR dialup connection works fine, so, please maintain it working when fix the other connections issues.

But, all around the async kernel with home on sd are GREAT!...  so, thanks very much to all the good people that are making it working!

Best regards!

Coming back to the TKompany ROM after a long time away playing with OZ. I have the 32/30 image with home on my SD and have updated the Kernel Cacko's.

Got most of what i want done but am struggling with syncing. Could someone please clarify which version of Intellisync to use. Is it the original (1.43) or the updated vrsion that shipped with the 3.13 ROM?

many thanks

Sharp ROMs / Opera 7.30 - Not Working
« on: September 05, 2005, 03:50:38 pm »
hi everyone

Still trying to find the best ROM for my aging 5500. Currently back on the Cacko ROM with the new kernal.

Apart from the occasional lockup it fairly stable.

I am currently trying to get Opera working. After a lengthy install time it lock up the Z. After a quick reboot i get the opera icon. Running from here i get the starburst on the icon and the hour glass for a few seconds. The hour glass goes but the star burst effect stays.

After closer inspection i can see that i have have files in /home/qtpalmtop/opera

Any ideas or is it simply a case of never finishing the install correctly?

thanks

Sharp ROMs / Pretec CF WLAN Card
« on: August 29, 2005, 01:17:35 pm »
Cresho - thanks for the help. I actually achieved what i wanted by installing new versions of a text editor and file manager that let me start them up as root.

Had my card working for a while and now it cannot connect to any router. Mine is set to 128 bit Wep and a neighbours is open. Both fail.......

On my connection i get the error

"No connection detected

Check your WEP key settings and/or TCP/IP settings"

Needless to say i have checked the WEP and TCP settings

any ideas?

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Rom For 5500
« on: August 29, 2005, 01:12:08 pm »
I have brought my 'old' 5500 out of retirement and have been flashing various ROMS (OZ/GPE, Hentges, pdaXrom) but currently settled on the  Cacko 64/0 ROM. I have updated the kernel, been slowly adding various applicaitons that i stumbled across incl. VNC Server, VNC viewer, Opera, replaced the icon pack, text editor, file manager, to name a few.

There are a couple of applications i really would like to get working:

1. Wellenreiter - where can i get the correct version + support libs for my setup?

Cacko feed  www.bryandeluca.com/cacko/feed/packages or
http://www.zaurususergroup.org/modules.php...=titleA&show=10

I am having problems with both.

2. Are the applications in the feed compatable with my 5500?

3. I got my Pretec WLAN (Prism) card working for a while, but now it is very intermittent - using 128 bit wep, edited the wlan-ng.conf file as mentioned elsewhere - i have tried everything!

any help appreciated - thanks
