I just flased on my Akita, and it looks great... the provided programs are far from complete, but the whole stuff is already very well polished and well-looking.

Good job OpenedHand

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Altboot 2nd Option Doesn't Work
« on: June 03, 2006, 01:56:24 pm »
Is there any other way to boot the zaurus without having X started?

[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Dunno ... and, FYI, I filed that bug already : [a href=\"][/url]

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe Calendar And Contacts Stored In ~/.gpe?
« on: May 30, 2006, 05:34:38 pm »
... while I can import contacts, how will I be able to export them later, if I need to switch to another contact manager?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=128137\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I think you may try and use multisync + gpesyncd (I think) to try and get a copy of all contacts on another machine in whatever format supported by multisync plugins you like best.

My 2 cents

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Howto Load Usb Driver(s) To Get Usbd0?
« on: May 26, 2006, 11:45:35 am »
Is there noone that has usb connectivity working with a 2.6 image?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=128389\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

SSH works through usb0 interface on my akita with (gpe image), so in 2.6, but coming from my GNU/Linux box... didn't try with a SSH client on windows, and am not willing to

Did you try with the openssh client from Cygwin on your windows box ?

Are you using SSH v1 or v2 ?

Anyway, problem seems to be with SSH rather than networking stack ?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.4.x Upgrades
« on: April 29, 2006, 12:26:59 pm »

with alpha1-2 and rc1 releases I see in the logs some quirks:

- mount: sysfs cannot be mounted

- gpe system info  : df has problem reading ./dev/static

- ipaq-sleep :needs bl but then bl doesn't find /dev/touchscreen0

I think ipaq-sleep and bl need to be rebuilt.

You may want to add bug reports un eventually ?

The solution has been provided by the2nd on the bugtracker. It's a problem related to keylaunch. Basically you have to comment out every Fi keys in /etc/keylaunch.cfg. In fact there are only two lines, one with F4 and one with F11. Comment both out, and you're done !
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Would you be so kind as to point to the bug ticket in question ? Thanks in advance.

Update : In any case, I've filed this one specifically concerning my problem on alpha2 on akita... feel free to complement, add depends, etc : [a href=\"][/url]

...usb devices should work after connection on cxx00 machines,...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=121874\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Hmmm... not yet in alpha2 though... the akita gpe image is simply missing the ohci-hcd driver, AFAICT  ... will probably have to wait until alpha3

Matchbox Window Manager 1.0 included in the GPE image is broken, it seems. It fails on startup saying that root winodws is unavailable (or more exactly "unavailible", typo included

I've experienced the same issues (see posts on openzaurus-devel list).

One way is to downgrade it to 0.9.5+cvs version, maybe...

Would everyone (in this thread) agree to use and avocate ?

just a small remark : it won't help users understand the distinction between OE and OZ... I see lots of complaints on mailing lists or wiki about people not asking the right place... and fear it won't help in this respect

Other than that, no objection... I've already added some content into OE"s wiki myself, and I understand the hassle with setting-up a dedicated OZ wiki.

I think it would be a good idea for people to post working sd cards in the wiki... ;-)
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=121640\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Hmmm... which wiki ?

FYI, I have a Sandisk 512 Mb working on 2.6 with on akita... so it's not a lost cause.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz Alpha1 Screenshots

In case anyone is interested, I have posted some screenshots of GPE on OpenZaurus Alpha1.

Did you use the Spitz (sl-c3000) and Borzoi (sl-c3100) image?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=121474\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Neither of them, if he installed on a SL-C1000 (akita)  There's a dedicated image for akita.

OpenZaurus documentation needs to be on the openzaurus site, not on some random other site.

Fine, then setup a wiki on

Could we have minimo added to the feed please? thks
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=121297\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

First it would need some hacking, because it won't compile in current state of the .oz354x OE repository (

I got the 3 files and named them correctly

I'm sure you meant, but in any case, it might be helpful to correct the post title, then

Both Firefox AND Thunderbird was rebuilt and both are installable - just checked.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Hmmm... something strange here : I hit bug [a href=\"][/url] when I try "bitbake firefox" in oz354x...

maybe something was not committed, if you manage to generate firefox and not me ?

UPDATE : my fault, it appears I tried and compile firefox with a modified environment (patch correcting compilation problem for minimo : ), which obviously causes a problem only here .

Consider I've said nothing.
