I see you've uploaded the Alpha2 image & feed. Is it ready for testing? I did try the GPE Alpha2 version briefly on my 3100, however once I entered my user info and was presented with the login screen, I couldn't login. Every time I entered my password it would try and start GPE, but then end back at the login. I even tried logging in as root with same result.

I tried to get to the console to see what kind of errors were occuring, but Ctrl/Alt/Backspace didn't kill xdm, it kept restarting and presenting me with the login.

Good news is, rotating the screen doesn't kill the login screen.

Looking forward to trying Alpha2

Cheers,

Jerry

For future reference, you need to kill it about 10 times before it goes away, then you can log in at the terminal.

Alpha2! Surprised it didn't get announced in this thread at least, if not a brand new thread.

I'm not going to test OZ again until pxa270 video accelleration is in (more correctly, my dad won't let me   ) the kernel, but I would be grateful if someone running OZ alpha2/GPE on spitz could test these three things out for me

1- Does spell check work under Abiword now? (it was greyed out in alpha1)

2- Does importing excel files into gnumeric still show a warning/error (I can't remember what it said but it would open the file fine after you'd OK'd it- just annoying)

3- Does beep media player work OK now?

With all this new interest in GPE, has work resumed on the X11 port of kopi? What about Gnomecal? I've never used it so I don't know if its any good or how big it is- I'm presuming its way too big or it would be in OZ already I suppose.

I'm having the same problem.
It starts loading matchbox and then before the panel loads it goes back to the login.
This happens for root and the regular user. Perhaps that's why this release wasn't announced in the forum.

Matchbox Window Manager 1.0 included in the GPE image is broken, it seems. It fails on startup saying that root winodws is unavailable (or more exactly "unavailible", typo included

I've experienced the same issues (see posts on openzaurus-devel list).

One way is to downgrade it to 0.9.5+cvs version, maybe...

Hmmm... not yet in alpha2 though... the akita gpe image is simply missing the ohci-hcd driver, AFAICT  ... will probably have to wait until alpha3

matchbox-wm_1.0 runs just fine and is known to work as expected on Akita and Spitz. Either the image, or your installation, is broken, not matchbox-wm.

Sounds like the good ol' keylaunch bugs. Try with a freshly created user, and if that doesn't help, file a bug like hrw said
Forums are not bugtrackers!!! Smart questions

Same here too - I've been running alpha1 with no problems, but after an "ipkg upgrade" it now keeps bouncing me back to the login screen.

Tried wiping and recreating the home directory - no change.

The solution has been provided by the2nd on the bugtracker. It's a problem related to keylaunch. Basically you have to comment out every Fi keys in /etc/keylaunch.cfg. In fact there are only two lines, one with F4 and one with F11. Comment both out, and you're done !

Something looks very wrong here.....

/etc/keylaunch on Sl-Cxxxx should contain about 20(!) lines, 8-10 of which are commented out.

Also /etc/$somewhere/kbdconfig for SL-Cxxxx has F4 and F11 disabled by default.

Would you be so kind as to point to the bug ticket in question ? Thanks in advance.

Update : In any case, I've filed this one specifically concerning my problem on alpha2 on akita... feel free to complement, add depends, etc : [a href=\"http://bugs.treke.net/show_bug.cgi?id=838]http://bugs.treke.net/show_bug.cgi?id=838[/url]
