Nokia Tablet / Thinking Of Getting An N800
« on: March 14, 2007, 03:11:14 pm »
I'm coming from the Zaurus side of things, having used a C3000 for a couple of years.  Unfortunately, it was recently stolen, and instead of getting another one, I'm thinking of replacing it with an N800.

I tried to search, but didn't really come up with much in the forums, so here are a couple of questions:

1) Is there real word processing, Word (or at least ODT) compatible software available for the N800?  I see that there is a reader, but I'd ideally like to be able to do substantial word processing with a bluetooth keyboard.

2) Is it possible to map the keyboard for international english usage?

If I could do both those things, I could leave my laptop behind and work for the most part on the N800.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Last week my C3000 was stolen, after a solid 2 (almost 3) years of use. :-(

At this point, I still have my 5600, which I'll keep, but I don't think I'm going to get another Zaurus clamshell.  I've been eyeing the new Nokia N800.  Substantially cheaper, but less applications available.

Anyway, I never realized how much I used the C3000 until I no longer had it.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Globalsat Bt-359
« on: February 06, 2007, 02:06:56 pm »
Anybody know if this particular model will work with the Zaurus?

I recently got a Blackberry Pearl (love it) and one option to purchase is a BT-359 from GlobalSat, so I know it'll will work with the Pearl.

Ideally I like to buy one GPS puck that will work with both my Zaurus C3000 and the Pearl.

Anybody else have this combination and use GPS?

Thanks.

General Discussion / This Would Be Fantastic With Some Form Of Linux
« on: November 07, 2006, 11:37:12 am »
http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/samsun...cs_to_shame.php

I really like the form factor of it, with a foldable  fullsize keyboard.

I don't see any pricing info, but it sure does look nice.

General Discussion / Wonder How Well Linux Would Run On This...
« on: July 02, 2006, 03:43:54 pm »
http://store.pressdigital.com.au/store/ump...f163803d4d6f82d.

I'm pretty sure Linux could be made to run on it.

It's expensive, but I like the form factor.

X/Qt / Libc.so.6
« on: June 21, 2005, 12:34:06 pm »
I've gotten Xqt working fine on my C3000.  Now I'm trying to get Firefox and Minimo running and am running into a GLIBC version problem (I think).  When I try to run either program, I get:

"./Minimo: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2.3' not found (required by /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0)
./Minimo: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2.4' not found (required by /usr/lib/libgcc_s.so.1)
."

I've installed glibc_2.2.5_armv5tel.ipk.  Is this what's causing the problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Adesso Keyboard
« on: April 30, 2005, 10:14:25 pm »
I've been looking at this keyboard.  Looks pretty compact and has a touchpad.

Has anybody tried any of their keyboards with the C3000?

Software / Kp/pi
« on: April 10, 2005, 02:15:31 pm »
Has anybody tried using KP/Pi with Broadvoice?  I can get registered fine to their server, but I'm unauthorized to make any calls.  It has to be something in the setup I'm missing, since I can register.  I can also receive calls fine.

I'm on their BYOD plan with a WiSIP phone, but figured I'd try KP/Pi to see how it works.

Thanks.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Midi On The C3000
« on: April 02, 2005, 10:56:34 pm »
I have this Edirol USB MIDI interface that I plugged in for kicks.  It gets enough power from the USB port.  No application for it though, obviously.

Wouldn't it be cool if there were a simple MIDI sequencer program that ran in QTopia?  I suppose I could try one of the sequencer pgms for Linux under X/Qt, but they're really overkill for the screen size.

This is about the time I wish I knew how to actually program and not just futz with scripts.

Software / Inputhelper
« on: April 02, 2005, 01:57:46 pm »
I got my USB host cable delivered today (along with some other accessories), and so I tried out Inputhelper for mouse use.   Everything works great, but...

The unit will not suspend anymore.  It reboots whenever I close and reopen the lid.  I've tried uninstalling inputhelper, but it still reboots intead of suspending.

Any ideas?  Help is greatly appreciated.

Software / Pwm/pi
« on: March 31, 2005, 12:10:16 pm »
Well, I was using ZSafe on my 5600, but now want to switch to PWM/Pi to take advantage of the full screen - something ZSafe doesn't do.

So, I'm trying to figure out how to add multiple categories (in addition to "Default").  I can rename "Default" to something else, but I can't add more than one category in a document.  Ideally, I want to have just three categories: "Peresoanl", "Websites" and "Work", all viewable from the same window.

Judging from the screenshot on the PWM/Pi webpage, I should be able to do this, but I can't figure out what I need to do.  Can't find any other documentation on it either.  No doubt it's something really simple too :-)

Thanks for any help.

On my 5600 I had opie-multikeys working with the associated libraries.  I've tried getting it to work on my C3000 without success.

Anybody know of anything similar that would work?  I don't like the Unicode pickboard... it's WAY too convoluted for what I need.  Ideally I'd like to just have a single, international keyboard with alternate keys using a combo of FN, Ctrl and letter.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Pdf2ps
« on: March 22, 2005, 02:46:17 pm »
So I got a2ps, lpr, et al working wonderfully on my Zaurus.  Text prints fine on a networked HP printer.  But i have a mess of PDF files (gotta love that 4 gig drive on the C3000) that I'd love to be able to print from the Zaurus, should the need come up.  I've looked around for an ipk of pdf2ps - unsuccessfully.

Anybody had any success, or even tried it?

Thanks.

I installed Kino2/mplayer on my C3000.  I can play avi's fine in mplayer cmd line (aside from the known screen paint issues), but can't get Kino2 to even list the files.  Mpegs play fine.

Anything I need to do in Kino2 to get it to properly list the files?

Thanks.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Got My C3000
« on: March 11, 2005, 12:55:18 pm »
I got my C3000 yesterday, and I'm loving it!

I went from a 5600 to this.  Huge difference in graphics, size, portability, etc.

I've pretty much gotten all the old apps I needed running on the C3000 with the exception of one that's pretty important - VNCServer for the C3000.  I've looked in the forums and tried a couple of different ipks, but none work well.  I can always get the server to start up, bu when I try to connect to the C3000 it hangs.

Anybody have any kind of solution?  It's pretty much the only thing I need that I haven't gotten to work.

Thanks,

R.
