Zaurus - pdaXrom / Happy New Year ... Roadmap
« on: January 01, 2008, 12:49:09 pm »
Hi pdaXrom developers,

thanks for developing pdaXrom in the last years and hopefully a few years in future ... :-)

What about actual development ... seen changes on roadmap, but about actual development status? Is it possible to have a date on the roadmap edited (last change)?

Hopefully waiting for 2.0.0 beta to test ... :-)

Good ... great work

Zaurus - pdaXrom / [offtopic?] ... Spit Pdaxrom Forum In Some Section
« on: July 20, 2007, 03:34:17 am »
Hi ...

don't shoot at me or blame me ... but sometimes it is very difficult to keep the overview of all thread ... yes I know the search function ... but missing / bad topics do the rest ...

Why is the pdaxrom part of the forum not split up in sections?

Think about a good solution or think up about splitting it ... some nice Howto's will be nice to come from forum to the wiki / homepage

Thanks

- date / time setting after reboot
many described in forum before (some with solutions) but after reinstall (reflash) or reboot  I have to do many manual work again ...

Thanks to Sazh and all other developers, testers for their great work

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Remotecontrol Sl-c860 (maybe Offtopic? Hardware?)
« on: March 31, 2005, 08:14:39 am »
HI all :-)

I own a Original RemoteControl for my SHARP Z SL-c860 ... I bored with this little thing (ok it works!) but this is all ... I'm really missing a little display (special using it with xmms as musicplayer) ... showing me some informations (i.e. ID3 tag, ...)

Are there some people seeing a chance to connect an other remote from a commercial mp3 player like the iRiver ones H320/340 Remote with a nice little display?

What about the connector at our loved c860 model ... I noticed that controlling speaker / earphone / mic ... input / output / remote function is "ONLY" software controlled?! Am I right? What about developing a driver for that nice iRiver remote?

http://www.forum.iriverlounge.de/viewtopic...=remote+display

Kleiner Adapter für den Spezialstecker an die Hörer-Buchse des c860 und den seriellen Port ... *grübel*

I will go on searching for more information on the I-Net ... giving some feedback later maybe start of next week ... I like if someone other could give some informations? Searching for any discussion done before :-)

Thanks a lot

Zaurus - pdaXrom / RC9 ipkg upgrade problems.
« on: February 07, 2005, 07:10:57 am »
Hi Laze,

- I did the update with - ;-) I call it RC9.1 - two days ago ... but now have problems exiting X with the menu exit ... there's now dialog "yes / no" comming up ... only be able to exit X with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace ...

Maybe it has nothing to do with RC9.1 ... because I updated (without X) "ipkg update" and "ipkg upgrade" ... also installed some packages from stable and unstable feed ...

- Now I will do some other testing, maybe I will flash again ... without any updates and doing some testing!

- What about this error displayed at boot time with "dmesg" ... cramfs? ... see below

- sometimes system-cf/sd-applet sometimes crashing?

- I'll have a maybe - simple / stupid - question about the apps on system-icon area right on taskbar ... How do I get the menu with "add / remove / hide" dialog"? Is there a shortcut and how to tab on the screen ... I'm little bit confused about the right "click" ;-)

- Am I wrong that there should be a /var/log/messages in new RC9 / RC9.1?

Any other responses about RC9.1 full flash?

Thanks for your great work until now :-)

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Package Manager / Vncserver&-client
« on: January 10, 2005, 06:57:10 am »
Hi to everybody,

Some ideas for package manager in RC8 ...
- possible to get a column in available/installed packages with size of package/install space required
- settings ... will be nice to have a column for each feed to (de-)activate feedentry ... it's a little bit uncomfortable to remove and insert/edit it again by typing whole url again and again ... only for some tests or feed is unavailable for short time
- problem in log tab ... I think there is a debug output left in build, because there are some \n\r (linebreaks) inside progressbars (points) ...

vncserver/client problems ...
- I love it to use my Z with vncserver/client using mouse / keyboard of my Laptop :-) I think my problems is maybe not an error but missconfiguration ...
- the picture on my laptop (1024x768) is in NOT fullscreen mode the whole screen size (upper left corner) filled up with grey background :-( ... any hints ...

Thanks

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Volume-applet Settings & Xmms Volume Control
« on: January 04, 2005, 06:05:20 am »
Hi ...

great work on pdaXrom RC8 ... THANKS to all developers :-)

I'm having some problems with ...

- volume-control-applet every time I restart X or volume-applet it is set to max vvolume level ... is there a conf file or parameter to set a lower level at startup ...

- second problem is xmms volume control ... which driver / output plugin (eSound, OSS, ...) to use with remote control ... which configuration for plugin ...

- double size of xmms main window ... works ok ... is there a possibility to use greater font or doublesize playlist (will be very very nice)

Thanks
Martin

Accessories / Alternativ Connecting Harddrive To Z
« on: December 08, 2004, 04:56:13 am »
Hi to all Z users,

My problem is connecting a massstorage (like harddrive, usbstick,  camera) to my Z (c860) ... thinking to by a USB host CF adapter ... seen this 2 USB host cf adapters ( 1 is not available anymore, sold out ) ...

  http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/index.html

  http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/produc...ages/cfu1u.html

I searched again in the web and found this, but it will be available in Q3/2004 but drivers only for Windows :-( Linux not before Q2/2005 ...

  http://www.twin-paradox.com/SEPDA.html

Some days ago I read about a WLAN harddrive from ASUS in an article of a magazine (pc professional) :-) ...

  http://www.vnunet.de/testticker/Mobile/art...6025&Ref=pc-pro

going to the ASUS homepage reading more details about it ...

  http://www.asuscom.de/products/communicati...5/overview.htm#

short thinking about it and thats th clue for most of my problems ... directly ordering it at www.alternate.de ... maybe it will arrive today / tomorrow ... I will report after some testing ...

The best is - if I understood it right - that firmware is upgradeable and sourcecode is available :-)))

Best wishes until next days
Martin

p.s.: pictures taken from pc magazine and asus ... Thanks.
