did you ever remove some smd chips? I have read different upgrade actions ... simpad and asus wlhdd ... any all of them are note very happy of there work ...

Heating is difficult to remove old ones and never the less it is to add new chips inside :-) ... hope to her of you with a positve feedback and happy smile :-)

Now I got my sd cardslot and bt module for trying to add it to my simpad :-) ... doing some pictures if its ready ...

Hello@all!

I´m new to the forum cause I was curious with working on/with the Simpad and came through opensimpad.org in here.

I tried images with 2.4 kernel and 2.6 kernel. Now I´m using 2.4 cause there is a module for mmc available.
BUT I would love to use the newer 2.6 images in my "bluetoothed and sd" Simpad.

did you test the different images from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/ ?

Is there a compiled module respectively driver available for sd/mmc. That would be great.

Which type of bt stick / modul do you use ... which type of mmc/sd adapter do you use ... I try to bye one bt adapter from notebook with serial connection but I could not get any technical docu :-(

Btw, I´m also missing some useful software for 2.6 kernel images like minicom and synergy client/server ;-)

now there is an new testing image for the angstroem distribution online ... here

anyone who did an install of it ... is there a changelog for testing images ... could not find anything in bugzilla reports :-(

I will try to test it tomorrow ... hoping the wpa configuration error of r14  is solved ...

thanks for you answer ... my Siemens igate WL11000 - 1 - 3V did not work with my simpad and wpa ... are you right with wpa? I read some notes ... or is it only that the wpa mode is note corect recognized in r14 ?

Sorry but at the moment I have opened my simpad to renew battery and get mmc/sd mod to work :-) ... maybe I try to get a BT mod working ... I used to try it with a small BT modul from a siemens notebook ... waiting for some informations on the module ...

I ask via PM ... (please don't reask, they are on heavy work!) ...

They are doing a complete rebuild on pdaXrom (V2.0.0) on a newer 2.6.xx kernel ... kernel work done by maybe 90% ... I don't know how far is GUI! THey said that if it is going to Beta state there will be an announce on the projects homepage ... Hope to get it soon because angstoem-distribution.org is getting really fine :-)

Please GoOn pdaXrom  ...

Hi Mr-nice ...

long time ago since r14 has een released ... any roadmap for new r??

my biggest problem was WLAN WPA missing / not working in r14 ... searching too for a working wlan PCMCIA (16bit) card for Simpad ... I have 3 cards but they are only 32bit PCcards not working in simpad :-(

zaurus is total different with iphone.
iphone is modern, suitable for end user, supported by commercial company now.

As a linuxer, those advantages of iphone is not the whole world.

I agree :-) ...

iPhone is nice and pretty ... but closed (source) and bundled (with itune) ... I buy my CDs DVDs in store NO download !

my c860 is open and I like to develope on / for it ... have alternate free software ... no bundling with closed access

any chance for installing NG or debian on c860 with sf / cf card ... I'm heavely wating for a usable distro on my Z ... pdaXrom still stopped, waiting for something internal???

What about angstroem distro ... how stable it is for Z ? any new compilations after 12-2007? I've seen some image for my small simpad SL-4 ... but not able to install ...

my batteries (akku) is down on my SL-4 and searching now for a good replacement in germany ,,, any Samsung has only have capacity then original battery ... any ideas?

Working with old battery inside works on my SL-4, but maybe because it not complete down ...

Hi :-)

I try to test it too with my Simpad SL4 ... GREAT WORK

... first issue are the basic functions ...

- flashing with serial console vie USB / serial adapter work fine (little slow with serial) ...
- on first startup to set clock and timezone no virtual keyboard available ...
- missing berlin/german timezone / german localization (maybe I am able to help!)
- missing usbnet support on Simpad ...

... second with some enhanced features ...

- my SIEMENS I-GATE 11M WLAN card is not recognized ... no WPA :-( for wlan / networl setting applet
- how to get my serial little keyboard work (DATACOMP Model DPK62AV V3.1) ... at the moment I need the port for serial terminal connection (login)
- sound missing
- some software missing ... (maybe via ipkg repos later)

- add sd/mmc slot
- add bluetooth dongle (but problem to get one with simple usb for "serial" connection only (maybe someone knows where to buy one in germany?)

I attach a logfile later today ...
