6000 - Tosa / Battery Source Needed

I have just rediscovered how great my Tosa is (after i "dropped" my treo 700w hard against the ground), but the battery is fairly tired.  I have looked through the forums and the sources that are mentioned seem to have dried up.  Anyone know were I can pick up a battery or two?  I would even be willing to buy a sled if it had a good battery.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / General Status For The 6000

So i have been off my zaurus for about 8 months.  I ran off and had to use a treo 700w at work.  The treo is only about 60% functional though and now that im moving on to a new project I want to give my 6000 another try as mobile tool.  

Currently im running the sharp rom with a custom kernel and some thekompany apps.  But I have a very large desire to get back to pdaxrom, or maybe OZ.  I have been reading through months of posts and it seems that pdxrom is still kicking and moving forward on the clamshells but i dont see any new releases for the tosa.  Is that correct, or am I just missing something obvious?

For Sale / Wanted / Looking For 6000 Sled

The usual places seem to no longer have the sled for my 6000 listed.  I knew I should have picked one up before.  Does anyone know where these can still be found?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Using My Z Like A Thumb Drive

If i understand right, in the settings tab i have usb icon and in that applet i have the options ( i think) to mount my cf or sd card as a thumb drive when i plug my 6000 into a usb port on my computer.  I have tried this both with the "usb host cable" and the dock without luck.  Am I thinking about this correct?  does this work for others?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Minicom And Other Stuff

Ok i had to flash back to the sharp rom casue i could not get minicom to work right with my hp switches.  But i want to get back to pdaxrom as soon as possible.  Has anyone out there gotten minicom to work with a serail cable (not usb to serial)?


Also just some observations.  First i really love pdaxrom and i consider it my "home" on my zaurus and i know that the 6000 i have is in the minority.  That being said i discovered that i miss a few things about the sharp rom. I miss syncing with evolution (not really with the sharp apps but with the the kompany apps).  Please dont throw stones but i just dont like kopi on my desktop.  I also miss alarms that go off even if the pim is not open.  I want to thank everyone for the work that was done to get kopi to wake up the Z and run an alarm.  This is a huge step and was the main reason i could start using pdaxrom daily.  But having to keep kopi running and watching to make sure it didnt crash every time i use the Z gets time consuming.  I miss zplayer.  I see a python mplayer frontend here in the forums that will soon be on my z so maybe i wont miss this one anymore.  Finally i miss netfront.  I have (thanks to people in #cacko and oe forums ) found links with graphics that seems to fill this void but it might take a while.


Again please dont consider this a down on pdaxrom, its the finest rom out for my 6000 and I love it.  This is just meant to be helpful feed back, and maybe a cry for help to fill these voids.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Mplayer And My 6000l

Ok so most of my office is running fairly new axims.  And this last week or two they have been boasting the merits of the windows handheld.  My 6000l makes a good showing in almost everything and beats out the axim in some places.  But in the area of video playback I am just coming up short and im convinced its user error.  I have read tons of threads about encoding video, and Im sure i have a good handle on it.  But picking out a version of mplayer and the command line switches i need to get the best playback just seem to elude me.  So before we have our next staff meeting i thought i would turn to the fine people here in this forum to help sort out the best setup for my 6000l.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Two Missing Features

I guess the title of the thread may be wrong.  I dont really think these are missing features they are just things i need to interact with my axim carrying windows using coworkers on the next job.

I am forced to use evolution and exchange for about a month and a half.  RIght now I use kopi and Im happy with it.  Its a little slow to start up but it runs well while its on.  I would be willing to switch for awhile to a different calendar app for a while as long as it could sysnc with evolution but i would prefer to do it with kopi.

The second "feature" i need is a voice recorder that records in wav or mp3.  Im going to have to turn in digital voice notes.

I can get both of these things working fairly well in the default sharp rom with some of the theKompany app i bought before i fell in love with pdaxrom (and i can use the rec button on my 6000) but if I can get it done with this rom it would be great.

I have googled to try and find a way to do these things myself, and i did find some command line debian packages that mostly worked for the recoder but I  could not tell what formats it was using and I could not get it to play on my desktops (ubuntu, or gentoo).  I could not find any info on syncing kopi with evolution.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 6000 Vs 3100

So I have been fairly happy with my 6000l.  It seems fast, and with a gig sd card I seem to have room to install most of the apps I would need.  My main complaint is its big and I find myself wanting to have both my 512mb cf card and my belkin bluetooth card in at the same time.  So here is my question:  Im thinking hard about buying a sled for my 6000l to solve the need for the 2 cf slots, but it will add to the size and the sleds that i see are $200+ and im thinking that I might just want to upgrade to the 3100.  Since the 3100 has a 4 gig drive/ a cf slot/ and sd slot I think it has enough room for my media, and bluetooth card.  If i read the specs right though it does not have internal wifi like the 6000l.  Internet access is very important to my work so accessing email and the web is a primary function.  Kdepimpi is also very important.  I was hoping some of the people i seen in this forum who have both a 6000l and 3100 can share some comments on using both units.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc12 0n The 6000l

Started this thread because I didnt see one yet for the new RC.  I have downloaded RC 12 and checked the md5sum.  The flash goes fine.  When i try to fire up the zaurus the yellow charging light goes off and the unit acts dead.  A reset gives me back the charging light.  I can restore my old nand image and it works fine.  

I flashed just like I did with rc11 which works great.  


Any ideas?

6000 - Tosa / Screen Noise

When ever i run an app in magnified mode (like opie programs) i get a high pitched buzz.  Everything wokrs, and it has done it from day one.  I tried reflashing, thinking that it might help but it did not.  I am using the stock sharp rom, but i have tried the gpe rom and it had no trouble but I didnt see a way to change an apps resolution in it.  


Any ideas?
