For Sale / Wanted / [sold] Sl3200
« on: January 02, 2008, 09:11:43 am »
I'm parting with my SL3200 to get an Asus eee.  The SL3200 has Meanie's pdaxii13 5.49 ROM on it, and I'm bundling it with a few extras:

 - Nintendo DS softcase
 - 1GB SD card (PQI)
 - 2GB CF card (Kingston 40x speed)
 - Bluetooth CF card
 - Symbol 802.11b WLAN card

It's on Ebay here (shipping to UK & worldwide):

 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=002

http://tinyurl.com/326rqt

I've really enjoyed my Zaurus, and am sad to part with it in one sense - the main reason for selling is that I use my laptop far more, and the Asus eee will replace both my laptop & the SL3200.  In one sense I'm downgrading, but I'll be able to do nearly everything on the Asus that I could on the original laptop, and it's nearly as portable as the zaurus.

PM me if you want more details.

User Request for Applications / Kstars For Pdaxrom
« on: August 27, 2007, 08:18:31 am »
http://edu.kde.org/kstars/embedded/

...shows Kstars working as a Qtopia app for Opie/Qtopia-based zaurii; would anyone be able to get it working under pdaxrom (specifically pdaxii13, which I think is basically beta1/3(?)) for the clamshell models (I'm using a 3200)?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Font Size In Icewm
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:57:37 am »
I recently upgraded to pdaxii13 5.4.9 & the fonts seem to be smaller in Icewm; I've dug around in the /etc/icewm directory for settings, and whilst there are some referring to fonts, I'm not sure which ones to change (if any) to get larger fonts for reading text (all applications seem to have slightly smaller font sizes).

Is there a simple solution (still want to use Icewm)?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Wammu Compilation For Pdaxii13/pdaxrom Beta3
« on: August 16, 2007, 01:42:23 pm »
I've tried compiling wammu ( http://wammu.eu/ ) myself, but so far without success.

The steps are roughly as follows, which I've attempted on my 3200 using the 3.4.6 gcc squashfs from Meanie's site :

1)Compile cmake (needed for gammu). DONE
2) Compile gammu with shared library support (needed for python-gammu) - FAILS (can supply details if needbe - I'll pastebin the output soon & post URL here on oesf)
3) Compile python-gammu NOT DONE
4) Compile wammu NOT DONE

If anyone wants to try to do it & package up the needed ipk's I'd be very grateful.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Thinwire On Pdaxii3?
« on: July 05, 2007, 01:08:19 pm »
I'm wanting to develop web2.0 apps using thinwire, with the thinwire sdk on my 3200 (running Meanie's 5.4.7 pdaxii13 distro); I wonder if somone might give me some advice as to how possible this might be, using the TJWS java webserver & the blackdown 1.31 jdk.

My questions are: will thinwire run on this older version of the jdk & how do I go about compiling the thinwire source code to generate the jar files for the zaurus?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Cat /proc/deviceinfo Details All Unknown - Terrier
« on: August 24, 2006, 03:25:21 am »
I've reflashed various ROM's onto my 3200, including at one time a NAND bootloader reflash in an attempt to get pdaxrom beta4 working. At the moment, I'm back onto a sharp-based ROM (see Sig below).

Somewhere along the line, all the settings about what the hardware device is, vendor etc, were wiped.

The effect is that some apps refuse to run, specifically Netfront & imagej, as they check what hardware you're running.

I can do the following:

Code: [Select]
cd /proc/deviceinfo

echo "SL-C3200" > product
echo "SHARP" > vendor

...for example, but imagej still generates a Qtopia-based pop-up error message saying "This software was designed to run on a Sharp Zaurus"

...anyway, if anyone could post their /proc/deviceinfo contents here, I would appreciate it, as it might get imagej working.

Or, if there's a way to input this info from the NAND untility setup that I haven't spotted, let me know.

Cheers,

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Cherokee & Php Support
« on: August 04, 2006, 03:15:20 pm »
A while back someone posted a URL to a  LAMP subsititue on #openzaurus on freenode.

Well, I took the risk of installing it & it uses Cherokee, a slimmed-down & fast apache-type webserver.

I used the Mysql stuff that came with it too & that's all working...BUT, no PHP support as far as I can tell; Cherokee doesn't handle php files (ie not the expected output).

..I need phpcgi, a binary which enables php files to be parsed properly by Cherokee.

If anyone out tthere can help in some way, please let me know how to make progress, as AFAIK, there is no apache for OZ atm

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Which Rom For A 3200?
« on: June 21, 2006, 01:38:44 am »
Hi all

I've just ordered my 3200 at long last (have sold my collie to help fund!), and am trying to decide on which ROM to use.

If you have a c1000/3x00, could you post here what ROM you're using & why, plus some comments on the ROM's strengths & weaknesses?

In the ideal world, I'd love to be able to boot several different ROM's, and I've seen elsewhere on oesf that someone's working on this.  In the meantime, I'm gonna have to make a decision which to go for.

Python / Porting Pyfits To Oz 3.54
« on: May 22, 2006, 02:12:33 pm »
Hi

I'm wondering how to go about converting pyfits so it will work with an ARM processor; I have a Collie with OZ 3.5.4.1 (Hentges) installed & the latest version of python for OZ.

Pyfits can be found here:

http://www.stsci.edu/resources/software_ha...pyfits/Download

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to how to go about this process?

Or, perhaps someone would be willing to do it?

Thanks!
