A few Questions, got a dual boot collie running OZ 3.5.4 with altboot, running Opie and GPE.

After installing all the hostap stuff, plugging in my Sandisk ConnectPlus 128, worked great, it was detected properly and the hostap driver loaded, in the process of getting all my wpa_supplicant scripts setup and after several reboots, now when the card is inserted, the pcmcia/cf applet shows "card not recogized".

Note it works without issue under Opie, so it's not a hardware issue.

Also I've noticed the pcmcia/cf applet doesn't eject a card when you select card > eject, I have to then click card > reset before the applet shows the slot empty.

Lastly, how does one reboot, other than via command line, in Opie, there's a "control panel" applet that allows me to reboot the unit, what package do I need to install to get that functionality under GPE?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Installed Gpe Rom With Altboot, Get Opie Instead
« on: October 03, 2006, 02:32:39 pm »
Bit of an odd one, running OZ3.5.4 on my collie using altboot from a Opie loopimage on the sdcard. This morning, I decided to setup a dual boot between opie and gpe, while logged in under opie, I downloaded

gpe-image-3.5.4-collie.rootfs.ext2

to the /media/card/boot-images directory, renamed the file to gpe-image-3.5.4-collie.rootfs.bin

as per

http://openzaurus.org/wordpress/howto/the-altboot-faq/

Reboot, select advanced and created a new 450mb loop image and installed the gpe image onto it. However when I actually chose the gpe image from the altboot menu, it takes me into an opie installation.  Not sure what I did wrong.

Suggestions?

Also, can I just delete the gpe loop file created above and try again, or will altboot barf by not seeing the loopfile it created previously?

OKay, running 3.5.3 and want to get wpa-gui running on the unit. Using the 3.5.4 base and opie sources under recommendation from another thread, I also added the x11 source for 3.5.4, and got wpa-gui and it's dependencies all installed, but when run I get "cannot connect to X server"  what packages do I need to install now to resolve this issue??

Software / Pwm/pi Won't Work On Oz 3.5.3
« on: July 12, 2006, 05:42:37 pm »
Okay, just installed PWM/Pi from the OZ3.5.3 feeds on my SL-5500, running it from the gui gives me an hour glass and then nothing. Running it from the cli gives me this error

pwmpi: symbol lookup error: pwmpi: undefined symbol: _ZN9KListViewC2EP7QWidgetPK

Any ideas on what's causing that, or how to fix it. Didn't find anything useful on the forum about this error nor via google.

5x00 General discussions / Kphone - No Audio
« on: June 27, 2006, 11:47:14 pm »
Okay, SL-5500 runing OZ 3.5.3 (opie), have kphone installed and setup with FWD (freeworlddialup), I can make and receive calls on it, but I get no audio for the calls.

I know audio is working in general as I can play mp3's with XMMS just fine.

I've tried with both standard stereo headphones and my cellular headset with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor, but no joy. I've also tried the r/w audio mode and ro/wo mode in kphone without success. I've tested on a desktop running X-Lite and it works for both sending and receiving audio so I know it's not a firewall issue, plus kphone shows the call has been connected, I just can't hear anything. This is testing with the fwd echo server.

Any suggestions?

Haven't been able to find anything on the board about this specific problem.

Thanks

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Getting Keyboard Wedge Bar Code Scanner Working
« on: October 15, 2005, 05:08:27 pm »
OKay, somewhat related to my cuecat and SL5500 question.

I have another bar code scanner, the Unitech MS210-1K, and would like to get this working with my Z running OZ3.5.3, this is the email I sent to the Serial IO folks regarding their Java based Serial Port product, anyone know of any other ways to accomplish the same thing?

***************************************************
Hi there, I am interested in the Serial Port software and would like to
know if it will work in my planned configuration.

I have a Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 PDA running OpenZaurus 3.5.3, I also have a
the same unit running the Sharp 2.10 Rom.

I have a ps/2 based bar code scanner that acts as a keyboard wedge

The model is the MS-210K

http://www.ute.com/product_info.php?id=19

I can power up the unit and scan, if I use a ps/2 to serial adaptor and
plug that into my serialio zthin serial cable, and run the Serial Port
software, will I be able to get the output from the scanner into a text
editor for example?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Cuecat Scanner And Oz On Sl5500
« on: October 15, 2005, 04:14:15 pm »
Anyone have any info on getting a serial or ps/2 (with serial converter) cuecat barcode scanner working with an SL-5500 running OZ3.5.3?

I see the modified usb one works fine with the SL6000 as per this thread

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gps App That Actually Works...
« on: September 25, 2005, 02:36:54 pm »
Anyone found an gps application that:

1) works with OZ3.5.3
2) works reliably with OZ3.5.3
3) doesn't have major dependencies
4) doesn't require major (or preferably any) compiling/cross compiling

I have the Haicom 303MMF gps unit

http://www.haicom.com.tw/gps303.shtml

It can be used as a serial, usb or cf gps. I use it in serial mode with a serialIO cable.

I've tried the following apps (and done a lot of reading on all of them both through the forums and google) on my 3.5.3 Z and my Sharp 3.10 rom Z.

1) RoadmapGPS/Roadmap
2) QpeGPS
3) zGPS
4) EPS

RoadmapGPS works fine for seeing the satelittes visible and the nmea data, but doesn't give easily readable position info. Roadmap just barfs with an error. QpeGPS doesn't work with gpsd 2.2.0-rc1 from the OZ feed, using an older version of gpsd (1.10) also doesn't work for me, the GPSD telltale fluctuates back and forth between green OK and red ERR. Either way, I never get a position. zGPS doesn't pick anything up period. EPS, well it runs on the Sharp rom but also doesn't pick anything up. On the OZ rom, it won't run because of the lack of a jvm, I tried getting jeode working on my OZ machine but gave up in the wee hours of the morning. I may give it another go today.  I've also tried all of these on the Sharp rom with similar results.  I know the gps is working fine as I get the proper location data when running wellenreiter on the OZ unit.

Ideally I just want an app I can run and see where I am and where I've been as I'd like to get into geocaching. If it can load maps, that's great but not necessary. As long as I can see my current position (lat/long), that'd be good enough to start. If it can output a textfile of where I've been that'd be a bonus.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Qpose And Oz3.5.3
« on: August 23, 2005, 01:27:01 am »
Howdy folks, I am trying to get Qpose working on my OZ3.5.3/Opie SL-5500.

I've got it installed and linked against the Sharp compatibility libs, as per here

http://zaurus.kruss.com/software_sharp.php...236bef4ff7a8#10

I've updated the mime.types file (actually several under OZ3.5.3), extracted an appropriate rom from my Palm IIIxe and put in into the appropriate dirs. It shows up on the documents tab with an ? icon.  How do I get Qpose to recognize this file? I can run Qpose and it says to run the rom image file from the documents tab, this does nothing.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / How To Do Multi-rom Boot Via Sdcard
« on: August 10, 2005, 02:18:04 pm »
Okay, currently running OZ3.5.3 on and SL-5500 via the root pivot scripts off an 1gb sd card. I am booting off an 512mb image file on the sdcard.

After seeing the glowing reviews of the hentges rom, I'd like to try it out without losing my current setup.

I understand how to create a new image file for the new rom, however my main concern is, once I flash the onboard memory on the Z, isn't that going to remove the root pivot bootloader which allows me to boot off the sdcard? Also since the "real root" would now also be different, won't that also cause problems?

Is there a better way of accomplishing this that allows me to keep my current setup working and allows me to boot a different rom?

Related to this, it would also be nice to boot a sharp rom as the 3rd "os". Is this also possible?

I do have a second Z, but only 1 sd card currently.

Okay, here's my situation, a bunch of questions.

SL5500 running OZ3.5.3 from an sdcard (image file) using the root pivot scripts. Desktop is Win2k.  Have the same setup for my giflfriend but her Z is running Sharp Rom 3.10.

On my GF's machine she can sync fine against the palm desktop from her old Palm V. However she has to run intellisync as an admin, otherwise works fine using USB - TCP/IP - Advanced setup.

My Win2k machine is similar, I can adjust the synchronization settings only as admin and same for running intellisync.  I have Internet Connection sharing enabled on my desktop, so I can ssh into the Z and get internet access for the Z. This all works fine.

My Z is set to 192.168.0.2 and the SL network adaptor is set to 192.168.0.1, intellisync communications settings/zaurus manager have been set to 192.168.0.2

Synchronization of the Z is not working though. I've gone into the security applet and told it that I use intellisync. However when I try to sync I get the following errors pop up on the win2k machine.

First dialog pops up saying "preparing to process records", then within a second:

An error has occured while trying to connect to the Zaurus.

Please remove the Zaurus from the cradle or serial cable and reconnect.
Wait approximately 30 seconds before initialing the synchronization.

Please verify that the PC Link application settings on the Zaurus match the Zaurus
   Manager settings on the PC.

I click ok, next box comes up saying "unable to complete request"

Removing the Z from the cradle and placing it back in makes no difference.

Related to this, since I don't use Outlook or the Palm Desktop generally, does anyone know of any 3rd party syncing s/w that will work against an ACT 4.0 or 2000 database?  I also have access to Goldmine, ver 6.x IIRC, however I'd prefer to just stick with ACT! I currently use the full version of Intellisync for my Palm IIIxe to sync against Act, however I am hoping to dump the Palm and use the Z exclusively.

Now that my Socket Low Power CF ethernet card just arrived today, I may dump the ICS stuff and do everything over the network.

Lastly, I am looking at buying one of these Serial IO GPS receivers

http://www.serialio.com/products/adaptors/GPS_BR305_Z6.htm

Just wondering if anyone is using it with OZ3.5.3 or will I be only able to use it with a Sharp Rom.

Speaking of which, can I use the root pivot scripts to boot off a sharp rom stored as an image file in my sdcard?
