Sharp Zaurus sl-c1000 and sl-c3100

Hi
I have one of each model. Both are in mint, almost as new condition. Both have Cacko Distro on them and still boot and run fine.
Anyone interested in these fascinating clamshell palmtops?

Well, I have owned a sl-c1000 for about 5 years now, and have semi-regularly patrolled around the oesf forums, but I had never seen mention of this thread before.

As it's really good news for a lot of zaurus owners, and it seemed to be a little misplaced in the forum it was originally posted, I thought I would spread it around a little more, and give it some love.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Rom: Sdhc Card Works...

...however, it works via the USB OTG cable, when plugged into a SDHC card reader. The same does not work when pugged into the SD card slot in  the Zaurus.
Makes me wonder though: It seems there must be SDHC compatibility built into the Cacko ROM for this to happen, no???

...anyway, wanted to say that I have found (somewhere, page since forgotten) the base build for Menaie's latest pdaXii13. Anyone is welcome to a copy if they need it, just send me a message. Adding applications may be tough, as I can't find a single working feed any more for that particular flavor. Does anyone know if ipkg's from earlier flavors of pdaXrom will install and work OK in pdaXii13

I also have a full install of an earlier pdaXrom flavor, that a kind seller of a Z on Ebay zipped up and sent. Thanks greenwirenet. Again, let me know if you want it, alternatively it's hosted temporarily on rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/409360675/pdaxrom.zip

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Sd Card Not Seen Or Mounted

I have a sl-c1000 with cacko heavy. It works just fine with a variety of 1, 2 and 4 GB SD cards from Sandisk, Transcend and PQI. (I have the SD driver update installed and working that allows greater than 1GB SD cards to be used.

The issue: I have a 4GB SD card I bought off Ebay a while back. It is SD, *not* SDHC, and I have formatted it both Fat and FAT32 in a Vista laptop, the laptop recognizes the card no matter how it is formatted and I can read from, and write to, it successfully.

However, when I insert it into the sl-c1000 I get nothing. It doesn't mount, and it doesn't show in the file manager at all.

A different, plain SD, 4GB card works just fine in the zaurus and the laptop too.

What can/should I do??

Software / Quasar Playing Small Screen Video

My setup is as in my sig, below.
I just installed Quasar, it seems to work fine, however when i play a certain AVI file it plays small screen, approx 1.5" by 1"............though the same file plays full-screen using kino2. Tried a few of the (other) configuration settings on the boards, but nothing helped.

Special settings i have currently in Kino2 are -vm -fs

Strange thing is, that other AVI files play full-screen using Quasar.

Clues anyone?

..........in their sl-c1000 or similar. I know the SDHC format/driver requirement is supposed to be problematic with the SD format of the zaurus, but there are reports of SDHC cards working in some Palms (that also are supposed not to work with SDHC).

Any real-life experience out there?

Sharp ROMs / Writing To Ext2 Formatted Sd Card Problem

My sig tells you what I am running.

I formatted a 512mb SD card as ext2 so I could install software to it. The formatting went fine, and I mounted it fine. I then installed several packages to the card without issue, and I checked each one that it ran OK.

Then I tried writing my internet favorites to the card from a USB stick that mounted fine. I could copy the file, but the paste command failed with a message something like "You can't write to this card". To check, I copied and pasted the file to the main memory (No problems) but when I tried writing it from memory to the SD card I got the same error message. I tried a similar operation with a different file, but using the same method, again it failed.

So, I can explore the SD card and see the program files installed on it, but seemingly not write anything to it.
The card shows as mounted OK the whole time too.
Anyone got a clue??

Sharp ROMs / Memory Leak And Rom Reflashing Question.

So, my sig tells you what I am running.
Over the last few months I have noticed that the memory usage on my machine has gradually been eroding, possibly due to a memory leak. For example, with SysInfo open I note the memory usage with no programs open. If I open say, Address Book, Opera, Calendar and Hancom Word, then close them all, then reopen SysInfo, I find that the Used, Buffer and Cached designations have all increased in size, meaning that Free memory has reduced. Each time I turn on the machine, open and close a program, the Free memory reduces a little. At this point I only have about 5100kb free. Is this anything to concern myself with, and is there a cure?

A second point: Over the year or so I have run Cacko I have installed then uninstalled several programs, and despite the uninstallations I am sure I have a bunch of files that are no longer needed (due to less-than-complete uninstallations) lots of Lib files for example.
If I reflash Cacko, is there a way to do this such that all my user settings don't need to be reentered and programs don't need to be reconfigured? Will I have to Reestablish all my PIM data for example?
