Oh then they did PAIR..

I used the pin:1234, then my phone basically said that Zaurus was trying to connect and asmed me to enter the pin. I did enter the PIN and it verified it. And my PHONE added Zaurus to it's list of accepted devices.

Inspite of all this, I still get the error saying "network offine"

DO y9ou know why?

Yes I do get a message saying that the card gets detected. The new Cacko rom Hotfix supports the Ambicom BT2000C card.

Sorry,

I did not write the "cardctl ident" output correctly. I have updated it in my post above

Sharp ROMs / Request For Cacko Rom Upgrade Instructions
« on: February 20, 2005, 10:46:25 pm »
Hello Everybody,

I just got done reading the installation instructions for Cacko rom but I couldn't find any instructions for upgrading the rom?

I am a newbie at this and have never upgraded a rom. I have no clue how to do this. Can this be done via the Cacko Feed?

I read that one option to Flash a rom is using USB. What does that mean? How is this done?

Could somebody please provide some instructions for the "Begginers" on how to upgrade the rom.

I mean...I don't even know how to copy the new cacko rom image to the CompactFlash card. So please forgive me for the ignorance. I would really like to learn this if one of you gurus could please provide some step-by-step simple begginer level instructions.

I think this would help a lot of people who are new to either Linus or even the PDA's for that matter.

Oh by the way, I have a SL-C860. So could you please provide intructions in regards to that.

Thanks everybody for reading my post.

Have a Great Day
Thanks..

General Discussion / Simple Zaurus Sl-c860 Questions
« on: December 19, 2004, 04:15:45 pm »
Hello Everybody..

I have a few simple "Beginner Level" question about the Zaurus Sl-C860. Before I go any further, I would like to say that this is my first time using a PDA. I have never used a PDA and have been using simple traditional means till now. I was recently in Japan and liked the Zaurus and decided to purchase it

Well, I would like to first thank you for reading my post and helping me through some simple question. I would also like to say that I have read the FAQ's and HowTo's and I still have a few question and so I would like to seek your help

The Sl-C860 I have has Cacko ROM 1.21b on it.

Following are my questions:

1) I would like for my Zaurus to connect to the Internet via GPRS. I was wondering if I should purchase a CompactFlash Abmicom GPRS card (following is the link to it: http://www.ambicom.com/products/gprs/index.html) or an Ambicom Bluetooth Card (following is the link: http://www.ambicom.com/products/air2net/bt2000cf.html)

a) Which one would be a better choice?
b.) What suggestions do you have about battery life and consumption?
c) Which of the above two cards consume more power out of the Zaurus?
d) For Bluetooth, can my phone be in my shirt pocket or pant pocket and my Zaurus could still connect to it for the Internet connection?
e) Are drivers available for these cards for the Sl-C-860? If yes, where could I download them from?

2) I have seen some Palm PDA's and just the way they have PalmDesktop, is there some desktop software like that for the Cacko based Sl-c860 that I am using?

a) If not, is there any other rom I should use that has this Desktop software?

3) If I have documents or files on my Windows XP or Windows 2000 machine, how do I transfer them to my Zaurus on a daily basis?

a) Can this transfer be done my Bluetooth? If yes, how is that done?
b.) If there are any other ways of transfer what would they be?

3) Is there an Anti-virus for the Sl-c860? Do I need one? If there is, where can I get it from?

4) General Knowledge Question: Just the way we can flash different rom's on this Sl-C860, can we load Windows Mobile 2003 on this?, I know that SL-C860 is a linux machine, I was wondering if you can turn it into windows and vice-versa?

Thanks everybody..I really appreciate your help.

Have a GREAT day..
Thanks..
