Zaurus - pdaXrom / Hardware problems with pdaXrom..

I've been having trouble with USB to serial adapters. The first one I tried was a Belkin F5U109 USB Serial Adapter. The driver reported by dmesg is the Magic Control Technology USB-RS232 converter driver v1.1 (mct_u232.c). It appeared to work at first, but then I realized that sending data did not work. So, I purchased an IOGear GUC232AWM USB to Serial Adapter. When I connected it, dmesg reported that it was a PL-2303 converter. It seems to function well, but it refused to function with the two programs that didn't work with earlier, though it seems to do more. The two programs are GPSBabel and sendMap (a statically-linked x86 binary with user space qemu).

I've been trying for awhile to get a deleo usb gps device working on a C1000. When i attach the gps the output from dmesg shows the pl-2303 converter attached and says it has attached it to ttyUSB0. Im using beta4 now and cant find ttyUSB anything in /dev (i have seen it in previous versions though). I was interested to hear you say "It  seems to function well". I'm a bit new at Zaurus (or even linus) devopment and was planning on trying cat /dev/ttyUSB0 to see the raw output from the gps to check if that was working before i then go on the get gpsd running. But since i now can't find ttyUSB0 and don't know what else to try I am stuck. Is there something i'm overlooking or some other package i need to install?

Thanks guys.

Accessories / Usb Gps

Hi all.

I have a Deluo usb gps receiver which I would love to get working with my C1000. I've looked on the forums but there is very little discussion about usb gps devices. I don't really mind which ROM I use at this stage but I imagine the initial problem won't be rom specific anyway...

Should this work? Does any ROM support usb gps devices? Can anyone point me in the right direction to start with?

Thanks,

fluffybob

hello!

i have still one question: i will buy the zaurus directly from pricejapan... but how do i convert the c3100 to english? is it the same procedure like for the c3000 (described here: https://oesf.org/index.php?title=Localising...ting_to_English )?

hope that someone can help me.

I got my C1000 from pricejapan and forgot to ask them to convert it to English for me. They did it anyway though so you'll probably be ok...

I know this has been mentioned before but it all seems to be out of data posts. I can't seem to get a vnc server working under OZ (specifically the latest hentges ROM release). I've downloaded the fbvnc ipk in the feed but if has certain dependencies that arn't in the feed.

These are:

fbvncserver-kmodule
libvncserver-storepasswd
libvncserver-javaapplet

They are in the feed, just make sure you have the right one enabled.  I believe these are all in the "machine" tree. . . add the feed for .../machine/[name of your machine] to ipkg.conf via editor or the package manager.

FWIW, I have not had fbvnc working very well for me on OZ (lots of delay, instability, etc...).

Thanks everyone, I still can't find fbvncserver-kmodule though. It doesnt seem to be in any of the feeds...

I'd have thought there were loads of people who would want to use vnc at least while they setup their zaurus as it can really save time.

Someone must have this working...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / New Hentges Rom Release Candidate

Hi all.

Finally making some progress with my C1000. Currently i'm desperate to get a vnc server installed. I've tried installing fbvncserver from oz feed\console but it says it needs fbvncserver-kmodule, libvncserver-storepasswd, libvncserver-javaapplet which I can't find in the feed.

I'm also having problems with prboom. It runs rotated and is not fullscreen but more importantly I don't seem able to do anything other than go up and down through the initial menu. Can't select to start a new game or even quit. I imagine this is just a config or keys problem but I cant find any information on where the keymap file is for prboom or where i can change a startup script to try it at a higher resolution.

Any pointers for either problem would be great!

Cheers,

Ben

Thanks for the responce mickey. I didn't delete the home directory before flashing and I did suspect that the window I can partially see was the mount window. Don't know why it's in german though and i cant get rid of it.

What should i delete before reflashing again? I don't need anything kept on the C1000, I just want a nice clean install.

Cheers,

Ben

I removed both my sd card and my cf card and rebooted once...you get very minimal apps showing when Qtopia comes up....then I put the cards back in and rebooted again.  I think I then got a media screen but it was smaller and I could "okay" out of it.   Anyway,  you could try that - shouldn't hurt.

Maybe you installed the German version by mistake?

Hope this helps.

Cheers tombraider!

Everything works now, it switched to english when i booted without CF or SD cards inserted and stuck to english from then on.

Just tried to flash to the Hentges Rom. It seemed to flash ok but then i'm just left with a window half on the screen half off which apears to be in german. Nothing seems to do anything.

What did I do wrong...

you did install the sd card fix, right?

I'm trying to get the latest copy of pdaXrom installed on my C1000 but i'm not sure im looking in the right place. I have RC10 but don't know where to look for these fixes or updates I hear people talking about. A quick point in the right direction would be most appreciated!

I'm having trouble with the install... I'm new the the Zaurus world but have successfully switched between pdaxrom and OZ before but i'm having problems with this one.

After holding down OK to get the flash menu up I pick option 4 and then either CF or SD on the next menu just gives an error (i can only guess it's an error) in japenese.

I've checked the md5 of the initrd as thats the only files with a md5sum provided. I also noticed that the updater.sh script isnt human readable. I've tried redownloading it but I get the same thing.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ben
