Gemini PDA - General Discussion / partitioning tool woes
« on: February 23, 2019, 05:21:01 pm »
this tool:
http://support.planetcom.co.uk/partitionTool.html

used to give the option to put sailfish as a secundary boot.

but now i can only get it as i the main boot option.

i dont really mind having it as a first boot but if i go that way then kali and debian seem to disapear from the 3rd and 4th option.

i would like:
1 - android
2 - recovery
3 - kali
4 - sailfish

OR also fine:

1 - sailfish
2 - recovery
3 - android
4 - kali

has something changed and its no longer possible to have sailfish as non first boot option?

Gemini PDA - Android / Using HDMI adaptor under Android
« on: August 27, 2018, 06:34:37 am »
cant get it to work either.

i tried a usb-c to hdmi cable and a powered usb-c hub with hdmi outlet.

in android under screen options HDMI is enabled.

maybe 'm missing the way it should work.

what i'm expecting is that when i hook it up to the TV i automatically get a screen mirror?

or should i start some app or use some in-app setting?

really hope anyone can help me with this in a step by step explenation.

thx!

if i put it to device only and open maps i get a message that i need to enable google location service. if i ignore this it centers to a location i was yesterday.

I have GPS set to "device only", and it does find my location.  It seems to have trouble getting a signal sometimes, though.  Just tried it at home indoors, and I had to go to the door and open it before I could get a blue dot.  It does suggest I use "Location Services" the first time, but I hit CANCEL and it doesn't bother me again.

OTOH. I can't seem to get 'directions' without Google Services.  I asked for directions to an in-town location, and it put the orange balloon on the correct place, but then hung trying to connect to Maps.

thats seems to be exactly what i'm experiencing.

anyone else have this problem?

my car navigation sucks and i rely heavilly on my phones navigation so i hope there is an easy fix for this...

looks like the device comes without a build in GPS chip but the specs say it has GPS..

really confused now
Hmm, it definitely has a GPS, I've used it with HERE WeGo a few times already. So either you have a faulty unit, or something has crashed I think. Will a restart fix the issue?

installed a gps test app,
it says it sees 24 satelites but cant use any and has no fix

When i start google maps and press the 'center' icon it goes straight to where i am at that moment on the map.

however when i press 'directions' and then 'start' it says: "waiting for location" and never really finds it.

in settings -> location
i have "location mode" at: high accuracy

could this be a hardware or software problem.. or both?

how to fix it because i used it a lot on my provious phone.

We target to release the official Sailfish X for Gemini by the end of this year. It will be sold via shop.jolla.com. The full Sailfish 3 version will include all Sailfish features, constant SW updates, Android support, and full end-user support.

so i guess then we'll be also able to run android apps... like whatsapp i guess
