The miniusb cable bundled with N-gage is for usb mass storage. It lets your n-gage work as a card-reader for the inserted mmc card. You can't dial-up through the cable. I've succesfully connected to the internet through a bluetooth connection to an n-gage.

Btw, there is no irda on the n-gage(not on the standard, nor on qd).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom 1.1.0beta 4 And New Bootloader
« on: May 30, 2006, 02:48:21 pm »
Well, the fourth beta is great but has a few anoying bugs:

1. disabling of speaker sound after inserting headphones must be done manualy. It would be great to have it automated as in Xrom <beta4, cacko...
2. sound from speaker is weak and distorted! It's not hardware malfunction as i've reflashed to cacko and the speaker sound there is ok.
3. Usbfunction doesn't work so we can't use Z's as usb mass storage devices. The problem in the script is that it checks an nonexistant file for device model info. It's easy to fix that. But after that it accesses /etc/usbcontrol which doesn't exist in beta4.
4. The short shadowy bar over fbpanel is extremly irritating!

Regardless of this, thanks to Sash and everyone else who contributed to making an extremely powerful 2.6 kerneled zaurus system!

edit /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf
there you add an entry for your card or edit it if you allready have it so it looks like this

card "enter name of card here"
manfid (you enter 2 comma separated values which you can find with the "cardctl info" command, it looks like for example MANFID=0319,0000. You write these 2 values)
bind "hostap_cs"  (this indicates that you want to use the hostap driver)

then eject/insert your card

hope this helps

Zaurus - pdaXrom / A Big Problem... (deleted)

Unification of pdaX & OZ won't do good to our zauruses. Each of these projects has an idea that appeals to some part of the community. But I don't think that flame wars should emerge from these differences. You guys should collaborate and share the best of these roms.

P.S i wouldn't call any of the roms crappy, so the rule about having one cool thing instead of many crapy things doesn't work here. We got a lot of really cool Z roms!

I haven't used pdaXrom in a while be from what I remember you just have to select the text in the terminal then middle click with your mouse or shift click with your stylus to paste. Hope that helps.

That works! Thanks!

exactly ctrl+c / ctrl+v
obviously ctrl (and alt) are the one you choose (by default, Calendar and Addresses).

Keep in mind that copy&paste implementation strictly depends on the software in which you are trying to use the feature. So, if you have, for example, a desktop manager and a file explorer uniform in protocols (or better, managed by the same software, like ROX) you can expect an easy copy&paste between the two. But if ROX implements a custom copy&paste protocol, you can bet on the fact you won't be able to copy&paste between it and other software. Anyway, what you can do is try to discover effectiveness in different cases.

You must consider, though, that in GNULinux and similar OS is quite normal having the possibility to copy and paste only if the app you copied from is left open. If you copy some test in Firefox, and close it before pasting, the copied text will be lost

bye

what about terminal copy/paste?
it seems ctrl+c/ctrl+v doesn't work there

I'm sorry if this question sounds stupid, but i've searched for an answer for a while and haven't found it.
Is there a copy/paste combination in pdaxrom (like ctrl+c/ctrl+v)?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Howto Configure A Usb Ethernet Adaptor

When you say "worked out of the box", do you mean to say that you didn't have to fiddle about with any of the hotplug scripts etc? What does your adaptor appear as, eth0 or something else?

Just connected the adaptor. No fiddling with hotplug. It just appears as eth0 and works fine.

I've got a D-link DUB-E100 and it worked out of the box with Beta2. Do all of you connect the ethernet adaptors through a powered hub?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Compiled Snort And Libpcap
« on: March 17, 2006, 04:22:38 am »
I natively compiled snort 2.4.4 and libpcap 0.8.3
Snort is an open source intrusion detection/prevention system.
Libpcap is a snort depend.

P.S: libpcap is correctly packaged, but while packaging snort i was getting some unresolvable errors, so i just gzip'd the binary.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Duke Nukem 3d For Pdaxrom
« on: March 08, 2006, 04:37:39 am »
I can't launch the game. I installed the shareware version, copied files to Z, unzipped the attached file there and copied the .con and .dat files from testdir on their CVS. When i launch the binary it just show the duke nukem banner and thats all. I waited for a few minutes but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

It seems that the keycodes for the C3100(possibly C1k/C3k) Ok/Cancel buttons are different:
Cancel is 102, Ok is 92
So my xmms.xmodmap looks like this:
//
keycode 102 = C
keycode 92 = B
keycode 133 = Up
keycode 134 = Down
//
i.e cancel is play/pause, ok is forward, up/down is volume up/down

Why does XFCE freeze when launching programs such as package manager, licq, ppp, perhaps some others? The wireless card still works though and i can ssh into it, kill x and continue working.

I had exactly same dmesg output and got the card to work after I turned off MAC filtering on my AP. Try reseting your AP and connecting with default settings (no wep, filtering etc..)
