5x00 General discussions / How many SL-5000d users out there?
« on: January 12, 2004, 12:36:44 am »
I own two also. One I got from Sharp at the Sharp developer symposium, and the other I got from my present employer (before I was employed by them) from the Trolltech developer contest.
It\'s really too bad Sharp stopped caring about the 5000d, as it is the developers version, and many developers have them.

Mine always has various systems on it, either sharp/cacko/tkc/openzaurus or whatever...

Off Topic forum / ZUG a bit busier than usual...

I noticed right away that after zaurus.com went down the last time, this site picked right up, and seems to be where the zaurus action is.

Also, the X11 rom seemed to have sparked new discussions.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Opie-Mediaplayer2 won\'t play anything
« on: December 30, 2003, 03:06:46 pm »
its opieplayer (version 1), that can play mod files, as well as mp3\'s and such. It uses the plugins.
op1 is still being maintained, and is very useful, and requires less memory to operate.

What is the legal status of having Opera on the Zaurus. I was thinking the SL-C7xx models.

If permitted, was thinking of preinstalling it for our customers as an alternative to the existing (excellent I might add) Netfront browser.

That depends on which rom/QtE you have on it. You can\'t really legally run commercial qtopia apps with the GPL\'d QtE.

*cough* Distributing Opera might also not be legal.
Best check with Opera if they will allow it.

Linux Issues / Real format playing possible?

The RealNetworks codecs have not yet been ported completely to arm/zaurus. Nor is there an easy way to play.

Nice to know IBM is doing something for the Zaurus!  And lpotter, your avatar is quite disturbing!

It goes along with the job.

It\'s not a regular password.  The download is free to everyone, you just have to register first.  outlaw has just done that step for us.

umm, yes, but the point of the registration is that you have to agree to a certain license. But you wouldnt know that because someone gave you a user/pass.

In essence, you are violating the license that IBM and Opera are using.

Hey!
Since I started here at TT, I was wondering about Australian Zaurus users. Good to see at least a few people here in .au have them. After all, this is where Qtopia is developed! Well, in Brisbane, of course.
