Just to put at bay feelings of this sub forum's demise....  I bring forth this comentary :-)

Well, given the way things have changed, I'm assuming that the devices chosen back in '07 are no longer valid.  Maybe this forum could be resurrected with some brainstorming about chips and chipsets available.

For instance, TI is coming out with some new stuff that integrates quite a lot of functionality an relatively few chips.
Maybe use th OMAP4 for the base processor, and the WiLink for the Bluetooth/WiFi/FM/GPS functionallity?

Screens really haven't progressed as much as one would like..  I'd really like to see a High speed color E-Paper..  But I dream too much I guess.  The OLED based screens are starting to become more feasible though.

I'd still like to see a design that has the Cell radio be optional, and be change able easily.  Can you say GSM or CDMA?  Is there any way to merge the ideas presented here with the other people trying to accomplish very similar things?

Software wise..  Even though I'm a bit leary of either, maybe OpenMoko or Moblin/MeeGo/UbuntuMoblin?  Don't really like RPM though.

The new Nokia looks like a nice device, but here in the US it's kind of a non starter because of the limited carriers available that are compatible with it.

I'd be glad if you can hold it for about 6 months ^^. If's not possible, no problem then... But I just can't afford it right now since were building a new apartment :<. Thanks for the offer.

This device is still available for sale.

The unit is in great working condition, but cosmetically it has two small dings in the top.  I am asking $350, and I accept PayPal.  I am willing to load whatever ROM you wish.
Here is a Picture of the unit.  I am including the PDAir case, the Ambicom WIFi card, a 1Gb SD card, and the Pentopia stylus.

Thanks for your interest.  I had several watchers, but nobody bought it, nobody even sent me an offer.  There was one that sold for $350 the week before with fewer addons.

Hello,
I am listing my Sharp Zaurus SL-C3100 on EBay,  I got this from ArchiMark a while back and it has performed very well for me, however I need to raise some cash so I'm starting with this unit.

Thank you

maybe the PP is just resting, pining for the fjords... lovely plumage, the pocketpenguin

I think blue would be a good color..  Just look at that plumage :-)  And no, I don't have the feet nailed to the stand.

I'd like to see the LIRC stuff working.  And yes, before anybody says anything, I do know that as a remote control the Z is pretty much useless.  I mostly want it for learning remote codes, and possible testing to make sure I have the correct ones.

All I've found so far for pdaXRom is some old Sharp rom stuff, which I'm kind of hesitant to use.

Fujitsu E-Paper Display

This would be so cool to use, if it was available.

Could you imagine using something like it for the keyboard keys... When you press the Shift key the keyboard would adjust to show the proper characters, or even the FN key or Alt.

Here's something that looks cool..  Unfortunately, color E-Paper besides being a nonproduct at this time, has a very slow refresh rate.

iPAQ Forum / Custom Cf Card Design

Hello,

As you may have noticed from my prior posts.. I am interested in trying to get the Embedded Works Wi-FI/Bluetooth module working with the Zaurus.

In regards to that, does anyone have the interest/time to develop a design for a CF card that would have the proper Molex 54722-0607 mating connector and a SD card slot, heck maybe even add a GPS receiver as well since the part from Embedded Works EW-WMBGMR01 is really small.  I actually think that they get it from RoyalDigital, Inc. since I see a made in Taiwan label at EW.

This would be the ultimate expansion card for devices with a CF slot....  If it's doable.

I am not real hardware savvy, but most of the software work to interface with the Marvell chipset is done, and they are working with I think Koen to have the CF portion working.  If it could be made mostly compatible with the devices that are being planned to be used in the PP, then the drivers could be reused for the PP when it gets built.

No, I'm not suggesting squeezing the GSM phone on as well, unless you think it could be done :-)

I know that you can combine memory and WI-FI in a CF card since SanDisk did it with their 128M/802.11B card, don't know how they did it, but it showed up as two sub devices when the CF card was plugged in.

Not to get off topic, but does switching from the microdrive CF-II form factor to a solid state CF-I form factor give enough room to fit a WI-FI and or Bluetooth hardware internally?  C3X00 Zaurus.  I'd still like to know how Sandisk did their combined flash/WI-FI card,  I'd like it even more to see it with 16Gig WI-FI and Bluetooth, with a detachable Antenna header so I could put it internal.

Thanks!!
but the file it patches (drivers/input/power.c) seems not to exist in 2.6.22

a check in the kernel 2.6.22-rc1 changelog gives

Input: remove no longer used power.c handler

Delete the never-compiled source file drivers/input/power.c, and
remove its entry from the corresponding Makefile, as there is no
Kconfig file that refers to the config option INPUT_POWER

so i patched the file in 2.6.21, put it to 2.6.22, manually patched Kconfig and Makefile to make it compile...hope this is not too stupid
however, still didn't work..

Should somebody maybe mention this on the kernel development list?
