The official Palm Tungsten T stylii are an almost perfect replacement.

But I\'ve yet to find them in .au

I know of a certain Myer store with a couple of packs and they marked down as well. I also have an account with Tech Pacific whom import the PalmOne stuff so I can get them wholesale if I\'m patient enough.

General Discussion / Stylus replacement

The stylus on the SL5500 is very brittle and I have polished wooden floors so they don\'t survive the drop (second time I have done it, not happy Jan). Anyone found a suitable of the shelf replacement for these, does a Palm T series Belkin work (they look similiar)? I can’t find anyone that sells original replacements here in Australia.

Windows Issues / sync 3.10 ROM with Outlook 2000 on XP problem
« on: December 18, 2003, 04:14:19 am »
So, not having a D: drive is obviously causing some if not all your headache. You haven’t mentioned you have so I\'ll assume you haven\'t, un-install the Sharp Zaurus Software and The Sharp SL Software. I would also manually remove the existing folders and any related registry keys. Reboot before you re-install. The naming convention of your error lines seem familiar, did you own a blackberry device previously?

General Discussion / double reboot issue on SL5500?

Thanks tumnus, I\'m setting up my SL5500 with the Apache/PHP/MySQL for client demonstrations or our softwrae solutions rather then carry a laptop. Oh, and it is fun as well

General Discussion / double reboot issue on SL5500?
« on: December 16, 2003, 07:03:59 am »
Third night in a row I have had to do a restore, after the Z has failed to reboot. The only pattern I see is it is perhaps on a second reboot which hangs? I turn it off and back on again and bam, hard reset. Anyone see or know anything about this behaviour?

General Discussion / FYI:Manually setup ZManager USB I/O->USB TCP/IP etc...
« on: December 15, 2003, 07:32:44 pm »
Posted a messages asking how as I don\'t carry a cradle to work and sometimes I fiddle with settings etc...

So, on your root drive you will find the following folder C:Program FilesCommon FilesSharpSLSSPCLINK2. Edit COMSET.INI, looks like this. Change the device value 0 = serial, 1 = USB I/O and 2= USB TCP/IP. The rest should be straight forward, at least now I don\'t need to drag that ugly damn cradle out ...

I haven\'t managed to get gaim working but I think the omitted libopie is the issue.

Software / manually changing sync. transport settings without zmanager
« on: December 09, 2003, 08:00:15 pm »
Setup wireless sync last night at home and have arrived at work and my trendnet 10/100 card has arrived. Installed desktop software but zmanager won\'t allow you to change the transport settings to advanced tcpip without a cradle and that of course is sitting at home in the draw.

Anyone know of the registry setting or ini file that can be manually edited?

The Gaim footprint isn\'t exactly small if you need the msn transport

tumnus, thanks for the info. Your right, I did misunderstand tkcjabber and hand\'t realised that the oscar/msn protocol support where served by the jabber server. I\'m using Sharp ROM 3.13 and installed to internal memory, I followed the installation order closely as instructed in the gaim intall notes. I\'ll give it try again, sounds like it will be worth it.

Software / tkcjabber or Gaim
« on: December 09, 2003, 06:45:34 am »
Purchased the Winconnectz and tkcjabber bundle back in February and just re-installed after a few months of playing with the Palm toys and I find that tkcjabber appears to only support the jabber and oscar protocols now? The tabs for the other protocols are greyed out ...

Checked their support page and it looks like they really don\'t want you to contact them for support without throwing some cash their way and the tkcjabber has had no updates since my original purchase (less then a year). Anyone no what the story is with theKompany...

Anyone had any success with the Gaim port? Followed the instructions but ipk errors (not dependancy issues).
