General Discussion / sl-6000 v sl-c860 Witch Would You Buy.

After starting with a sharp wizard in 95, I have went through several different pda(Other wizards, Handspring Visors, and now a Handspring Treo).  I thouhgt my wizard was kewl when I got it.  Though I have to say I never really like the keyboard.  It was to small to every be worth while to uses.   No matter if I end up getting a SL-6000W or SL-C860 I will still uses an external keyboard with it.  Hte rest of the time I will uses some kind of had recegnition.

Though still the built in WiFi and bluetooth is one of the main reason I will go with a 6000 over a 860.  This leaves my cf slot open for what every I may want to put in there and still be able to connect to a wireless netowrk and have a bluetooth headset, keyboard, and mouse...I guess I see alot more options with the 6000 then I can with a C860...though if sharp comes out with a C that has all of the same features as the 6000 I will have to think about which one I will be getting at the beginning of march when I finally have the monty for a Z...

the on/off button is in the upper left hand corner of the keyboard.  When you have the keyboard closed it is off and when you have the keyboard open it is on.  Make sure that the little point it up otherwise it is not on.  

I do not have a Z yet so I can not help you more then that.

General Discussion / SL-5500 vs SL-5600 vs SL-C700

A friend of mine is getting ready to buy a Zaurus.  Right now it looks liek the SL-C700 is what he is going to get.  He has been asking me about the different Z since I have been looking at getting one for the past year.(Right now I am looking at getting a SL-6000 if they every come out)..though may  look into getting somethign like a 700 to start with and upgrade down the road...

The ones he is looking at to start with are the 5500, 5600 and the 700 since they are all under $400.  The one things I started thinking about it if the 700 is worth the 200 dollars more then the 5500 to get the 640x480 screen.  Is the 700 really any better then the 5500 in any other way when it comes to speed, operations, etc...also is there any problems with 700 that make the 5500 a better buy.

I do not think either of us are looking at the Z as a pda, we are both looking at it as a handheld computer for development.  I for one know I will uses my Targus IR Keyboard with which every Z I get so the clan shell vs Standard does not matter to me...I am a former Sharp Wizard Users so I understand the difference and have found I like both.

Any input would be helpful...

I am guessing the C970 (if there is such a thing) would have specs similar to the 6000 with built in wifi and such. ?

I am tired of guessing...

I want to KNOW...

but then again I have been trying to get the money saved up since last June to buy me a Z...and since I am still a little short(still recovering from unemployment) I guess I can wait a little longer...

..Maybe by then there will be rumors of a Z phone that I can hold out for...

There are referrences to 870 and a 960 in that page.  Here is what I got from babel fish.  Not really sure what CSide is though it looks like they have a few test machines that are not on the market or someone can not type.  Though 870 and 960 are both used several times in the readme.  So we can hope.
