Sharp ROMs / Mysql problem with cacko 1.21a
« on: May 31, 2004, 04:54:20 pm »
Hello,

since you have a running mysql, could you please send me (or upload in the forum) your version of libpng.so.2.1.0.9 . I have overwritten mine during the gaim installation and I would like to get mysql running again without reinstallation.

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

Fabian

Hello,

I installed GAIM on my Cacko1.21 and overwrote my libpng.so.2.1.0.9  with a patched one. Unfortunately, this breaks mysql :-(

Could someone post the orgininal libpng.so.2.1.0.9 so I can reanimate my mysql?

Thank you very much in advance.

Fabian

Hello,

the same happened to me, it\'s my second card and after 20 Minutes (more or less) the card stops working. First it only gets a slow collection and then it freezes the whole zaurus until I eject the card. The card is warm but that could be normal.

I had a netgear ma701 and now I have a smc 2642w.

@N8a: What happened with your zaurus, is it working now?

Fabian

Zaurus - pdaXrom / fbpanel compiled for pdaXrom
« on: May 16, 2004, 08:51:17 am »
Hello,

you can also use the MB-applets, just add them to your ~./xinitrc. There is the menu-launcher which shows all installed programs.

My  tail ~./.xinitrc looks like this:

rox -p=MYPINBOARD &
#matchbox-panel --no-flip $MBORIENT &
fbpanel &
xmonobut -k 37 &
mb-applet-volume &
mb-applet-wireless &
mb-applet-battery &
mb-applet-menu-launcher &
openbox

I have to optimize the order but it is a nice combination of fbpanel and mb-applets. If somebody could solve the issue with the rotation of the fbpanel....

Greetings,

Fabian

Hello,

I have tried Corey\'s suggestions but I cannot get Samba on my pdaxrom to work. I installed the two ipkgs you listed but I can\'t find the smbd file to start samba. Do you have samba working and can you give me a hint?

Fabian

Hello Ashley,

Zaurus - pdaXrom / FluxBox wm
« on: May 15, 2004, 04:23:48 pm »
Hello,

fluxbox should be already available. Do a search for fluxbox on the zug forum to see the comments.

If it\'s not in the pdaxrom feed you find it here: http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/cacko/x11/feed/

Hello Ashley,

I forgot to mention that I have a 860 (that\'s why I tried your third patch). As far as I understand the other postings it should work. I haven\'t tried what Zazz said since I don\'t want to take the risk of bricking my precious unit :-)

Greetings,

Fabian

Hello Ashley,

I have just tried the new_installer-0.3.tar.gz but it says \"flash pattern not recognized. Cannot patch flash.\" I used the pdaxrom 1.05, copied the content of your first patch over it and updated that with the content of new_installer-0.3.tar.gz.

Did I miss something or is there something wrong with the new_installer-0.3.tar.gz?

Thanks for your effort.

Software / Useful Qt programs for SL760?
« on: April 21, 2004, 04:32:22 pm »
Hello Zautrix,

Qt3-support sounds great. Do you think it is possible to provide pyqt for qt3 so that one can develop python apps?

It would be good to have the nice richtext-control from qt3 on the zaurus.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Python (and other older programs) on pdaX Rom?
« on: March 08, 2004, 05:54:34 pm »
Hello,

in one of the first versions of X11-Rom there have been several python packages including pyqt. These packages aren\'t available anymore on cacko.biz.
Does anybody know whether these packages will still run on the pdaX Rom?

What is the reason for the disappearance of these (and other) packages?

Sharp ROMs / Opie Apps on tkcROM / Sharp ROM?
« on: February 05, 2004, 04:59:15 pm »
Hello Owen,

since you asked for coexistence: The opie pims overwrite the sharp pims on my tkcrom but it\'s possible to cp the files before the install so you can get them back easily. Is also had to install the libopie(s) from protos tkc feed.

Sharp ROMs / Noob can flash everything except tkcROM
« on: January 28, 2004, 06:42:35 pm »
Hello,

I had the same problem. If you don\'t format your user flash after the tkcRom flash it won\'t boot. These instructions helped me:

****  from ZUG somewhere (I think) *****
Make sure you have the updater.sh and initrd.bin files in the root of your cf/sd card.
(Yes, you can use either cf or sd to flash now!)
Make sure the Zaurus isn\'t plugged into AC power.
Remove battery for at least 5 seconds.
Replace battery (replace battery cover, lock cover), plug in AC power.
Press and hold the \"OK\" button on the keyboard.
Turn the power on, you should see the Japanese service menu:

Now Plug in the Power Cord.
(You will get an error if it isn\'t plugged in!)
Select option 4 (flash/update).
You then have four options (1. USB, 2. CF, 3. SD, 4. ?? it\'s in Japanese!)
Choose either option 2 or 3, depending on which media you put the files on.
Select Yes in the confirmation window (left option with the \"Y\").
( If you don\'t get a Yes/No choice you don\'t have the Power Plugged in!)
Screen will go black for a couple seconds, you\'ll then get the Sharp
splash screen (Sharp logo in red, Japanese characters below).
Then the screen will go black, and display
\"--- Zaurus CF updater ---\" and you can monitor the progress.
It will finish, and reboot your Z automatically.
After reboot, turn off your Z and proceed with the Format Internal Flash instructions.

Format Internal Flash

Perform steps 1 - 7 above (to get to the service menu):

Select option 3 (Erase all / Format (all data will be lost!))
You should then get a confirmation message (in Japanese) with a Yes/No
option (left one is Yes). Click the Yes button to confirm.
(If you don\'t get this, then you don\'t have the AC power plugged in.)
*************

Greetings

Fabian
