General Discussion / Who are you and where are you from?
« on: February 17, 2005, 08:02:56 am »
Man I'm late (again)! 5 months no entry in this thread and now me...

Peter, 38, from Germany. Bought a used C760 from a guy in the U.S. Great tool. Love it. Runs Cacko 1.22 since yesterday (moved between pdaXrom, Cacko 1.21b and TKC ROM before).

Studied Medical engineering on a German Polytechnic in the early Nineties, went into IT Support soon after degree. Still there, doing tech support for an Investment Banking Application in one of Germany's bigger banks.

Enjoy this forum, got a lot of help from here. Very interesting to read about all your backgrounds.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.21A keyboard problem
« on: April 26, 2004, 11:23:13 am »
On the other hand, as long as it is \"just\" the console; why would one need Umlauts there anyway? AFAIK, the clean way on console is always to use only the characters the original 7 bit character set offered.

General Discussion / clamshell owners....which ROM do U use????
« on: April 16, 2004, 12:43:09 pm »
Cacko-QT, pdaXrom, and TKC Rom all have their Pro\'s and Con\'s. When I\'m fed up with all the bits and pieces that son\'t work as I would like to have them I install one of the others, and so cycle through them. IMHO proto\'s ROM has the best GUI looks.

Is OZ 3.3.6 really worth looking at in respect of OE coming as replacement at some point? I tried OZ once but it looked very unstable...

Peter
Just switched back from pdaXrom 1.0.5 to Cacko 1.2.1, as I had prblems with switching it on,

Cxx0 General discussions / Remapping the Keyboard with KeyHelper

@qx773:

Thanks a lot for the hint to swap / and , but the version you gave does not work for me:

Quote
<!-- swap / and , -->
   <define key=\"Comma\">
      <map key=\"Slash\"/>
      <map_modifier Shift=\"On\"/>
      <map_unicode shift_unicode=\"/\"/>
   </define>
   <define key=\"Slash\">
      <modifier Shift=\"On\"/>
      <map key=\"Comma\"/>
      <map_modifier Shift=\"Off\"/>
   </define>
   <define key=\"Comma\">
      <modifier Shift=\"On\"/>
      <map key=\"Comma\"/>
      <map_modifier Shift=\"Off\"/>
   </define>

Only when I delete the third <define...>...</define> pair it does.

Sharp ROMs / New 7x0 Qtopia Rom from Sash

Is there a way to turn the / , key back to default behaviour?

Be careful with this crappy kernel of sashz:

A) FastFPE - Blows your precision...it may be suitible for people who do not do scientific calucaltions. Watch out for any calculations for Handcom Sheet.

 Nothing wrong with preemptive patch. There are no compatibility problems. Sash is too lazy to \"make modules\" and install them on his ROM.

C) Watch out for his so called \"LCD buffering\". Its what is causing the \"ghosting\" to appear. It would be a shame if your LCD screen gets permanently damaged.

This is the second kernel/ROM by sash and friends that has been placed out in a renegade fashion. He does no testing nor looks at consequences. Use this at your own risk.

Hey Mr. Guest, would you mind to unveil who you are when you attack someone that sharp?

Accessories / 3 in 1 stylus for Cxx0
« on: February 17, 2004, 09:43:41 am »
Conics has a three in one stylus on sale for 16,50 USD, which adds to the a.m. functionality that it has a telescope function, i.e. lies a bit better in hand. Does anyone have experience with this one?

I\'m about to order one...

Cxx0 Hardware / Flashing a new kernel from Japan into the SL-C760
« on: February 12, 2004, 09:26:32 am »
What did this guy do to speed up the kernel? There is a possibility to make the Z faster (see other postings in this forum) but I would prefer non-hardware speedups to save battery and prolong CPU life.

Peter
