Angstrom & OpenZaurus / gcc2 version oz 3.3.6pre1
« on: August 30, 2004, 04:29:37 pm »
I have seen on the opie website that there is a gcc2 version of oz 3.3.6pre1. I have not been able to find it on the oz website, does anyone know where this might be?
I'm pretty sure that there has been an OZ 3.3.6-pre1 gcc2 directory @
It looks like it has been removed. However the gcc3 feed was always the prefered one since
it offers a great speed increase on application loading time.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ wireless problems
« on: August 27, 2004, 11:33:53 am »
After some try I have found the problem: wep encryption. If I set my AP to WEP off and accordingly OZ everything work !!!

Now what I don't know is how to set wep. I mean I need to set up a required shared key authentication and use a 128 bit encryption starting from a string. From the graphical interface it is no possible to set all these thing so I have tried manually to set up /etc/network/interfaces setting s:mypassphrase0 as key and inserting the key word "restricted key" but it does not work.

I have tried to look at OZ site to find a solution without success. Even setting it manually by inserting the command:

"iwconfig wlan0 key s:mypassphrase0"

does not work (receiving the error message SET failed on device wlan0; Operation not supported). How can I do ? Thank you for your answer,
Try a

modprobe hostap_crypt_wep

and see if it fixes your WEP problem.
If it does, just do an

echo "hostap_crypt_wep" >> /etc/modules

to fix this problem permanently.

The new pcmcia_cs packages does only work with the OE kernel.
Either upgrade your kernel or install the old (and buggy) pcmcia_cs package.

This is actually a bug in the ipks. They have (as the error suggests) no Architecture defined in their control file.

In theory 1.1.4 software should run fine on 1.1.3.
You do know that there is a new 1.1.4 ROM at up for testing?

OZ 3.2 and earlier didn't send the hostname while asking for an IP via DHCP.

killall udhcpc ; udhcpc -i wlan0 -h openzaurus

work for you?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / New Collie (5500) 2.14.18 Kernel
« on: August 11, 2004, 10:44:16 am »
I have tryed to find out differences between henges rom and OZ rom at, but can't find the info.
Has this rom major improvements like...
Out of the box libcompat with sharp 3.1X software.
   OS/PCMCIA crashes.

The Hentges ROM is based on OZ 3.3.6-pre1 and has Opie 1.1.3 installed.
The difference between an official OZ ROM and the Hentges ROM is basically just the
updated Opie and some minor fixes.

It has undergone quiet some testing by the german Zaurus community und should
"just work" for most people.

There are plans to release an updated ROM with OE kernel (sync I/O support), OE cardmgr (no more CF freezes) and a faster SD driver (found in the downloads section of this board).

The chances are good that the next ROM will feature Opie 1.1.4. However, a few problems w/ 1.1.4 have to be solved first.
