General Discussion / Sharp Leaves Pda Market In USA
« on: September 21, 2004, 12:05:23 pm »
I am sorry to hear about Sharp, but I am not suprised.  I had a bad feeling from the start, when one of the Sharp reps pointed me to http://myzaurus.com which seems to focus on the earlier models.  When I pointed this out, I was told to go to http://www.zaurus.com/dev/ which (I was told) is supposed to be for the 6k users, but also leans on the earlier models.  Before I bought my 6kL I had planned to blow away the OS and load one of the Open Source OS's like http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/content/news.  I have not yet made the move, but I hope to soon.  I am very glad that I got my 6kL, though I wish the 6kW had been avaiable to me.
Cheers,

General Discussion / Screen problem on SL-6000
« on: September 20, 2004, 01:04:12 pm »
Thanks angst,
I was able to re enable the screen by removing the libz and VNC files I had recently installed.  Then with a reboot (rec+on+reset) it came up fine.

6000 - Tosa / Zaurus Touch-Screen Problem
« on: September 20, 2004, 09:43:47 am »
I was just able to get my touch screen working.
I removed the VNC software, and the libz files I had down loaded for it. Then I  rebooted (rec+on+reset), and when I restarted the box again it worked.

I had reset the device a number of times before, but the screen still had not worked.  I do not know if removing the VNC files made the difference.   The zaurus was working fine for about 3 weeks after I installed them on to the zaurus.

6000 - Tosa / Zaurus Touch-Screen Problem
« on: September 20, 2004, 09:21:51 am »
Hi, this screen issue just happend to me as well.  I noted the post about reformatting the device, but that leaves me feeling a little uneasy.  This is the first time I have owned a device like this, and I can just see myself hosing this then ending up with a $700 brick.  Are there any other options?  I have rebooted a couple of times, but so far no luck.
Yep the sharp site sucks...

General Discussion / Screen problem on SL-6000
« on: September 20, 2004, 08:58:22 am »
Hi, I have a Zaurus SL-6000W, and the other day, while setting up a network connection useing a socket CF NIC card my screen froze and stopped responding to the stylus.  I can still use the keyboard to navigate about, but it is a real pain.  Has anyone had a problem like this before?  I have rebooted the Zaurus, but no luck.
Help would be greatly apprecated.
I have RTFM but it was of no help!

Cheers,
lek
