6000 - Tosa / Sl 6k Power Issue.
« on: August 22, 2006, 01:30:00 pm »
Hi, I have a problem with my zsl 6k not booting up.  The 1/0 button does not seem to work ( it is as if the spring behind the button does not function) .  I have tried a hard reboot but that does not help (if the spring has gone it would not, would it).  There seems to be power in the battery.  I have tried D+B, but no soap.  I hope this is not a brick now!

Has anyone opened up a ZSL 6K?

Quite unhappy!
Cheers,
lek

the file is identical to my local copy. so should work fine. make sure you are enough space in your internal flash for unpacking.

Yep that did it.
What a memory hog!   I had already remove a number of programs; boy talk about reducing what I have on my Zaurus.  Kesmit works fine though.

Hi there,
I have been trying to install the kismet_3.0.1c_20031228_arm.ipk on my z6kl, but the install is not sucessful.

The message I am getting when installing is:
ipkg_install_file: ERROR unpacking data.tar.gz from kismet_3.0.1c_20031228_arm.ipk

Thoughts, anyone?

Cheers,
lek

Hi,
I have a z6kl, and I am trying to find kismet_3.0.1c-20031228_arm.ipk.  So far all of the sites that I have been too, which list a link to it, are dry.

Hey xjqian,
did you try connecting the Zaurus to the XP box using the wireless in Add-Hoc mode.  This way you are connecting  them directly together, rather then going through a router of some sort.  You may be suffering from some type of signal issue.

Cheers,
lek

server side: laptop XP home, 1280x1024 res 32bit color,  firewall off (if that matters), RealVNC 4.1 service mode (192.168.129.1). Default setting with password

client: opie-keypebble 1.0.0 Default setting (default set: request 8-bit session, scale factor 1) with password

Click "OK". at the bottom of my Z screen, says "Connected" but nothing happened afterwards. I've never used VNC on Z before, so what should I expect? Is this normal? Any hidden buttons I should click?

Hi xjqian, have you had any luck?
Sorry about the slow responce, but the local telecomm here in Addis, has been "upgrading" their system...  I have been without Internet acess for a while...

With the server, I recall having to tell it to accept the remote connection.
the settings on my z6kl are as follows:
Data Encoding section.
Check for Screen updates every: 50 Milliseconds.
[checked] Request 8-bit session.
[checked] Raise on bell.
[unchecked] Request shared session.

Connection section.
I have nothing checked.

Connect to VNC Server.
Hostname: [using an ip rather  then resolving a name]
Display Number: 0
Password: xxxxx

let me know how it goes.

Thanks lek for all your suggestions. I set up the password but still no go for me. I think the problem must be the result of my shallow network knowledge. I promised myself dedicating a weekend to tackle it down. But not before 2/8.  I'll describe my problem later from a clean slate.

Hi Xjqian,
if you have not yet ironed out your DNS issues, perhaps you should just use IP addresses, and worry about using "names" later.
Keep it simple

Cheers,
lek

No problem. Maybe trying traceroute or one of the alternative programs like lft will help?

I did, there is a routing issue it seems... My ISP tells me they are not bocking the ports, and I can use the Ymessenger on my xp box, just not the Qazoo (which had been working).  I am trying to find out which site the YIM (on the xp box) is going to.  I have looked in the pref menu, but there is no indication what it might be.

I have tried Gaim, but it has been a real pain to get to work...

i have qazoo for yahoo, and it was working while i was in America & England, but for some reason it no longer works.  i am in Ethiopia now, and the local telecomm tells me that they are not blocking any ports...   has yahoo changed anything?

That's my settings too and Qazoo for Yahoo does work here.

hi xjqian,
i was finely able to get the opie-keypebble to work with my "Real VNC4."  i have the "Real VNC" on an "XP" box (not my favorite OS) and I can see it on my z6kl.  The issue seems to have been a password issue.  I did not want to use one while I was running the tests, but the "Real VNC" seems to want one.
now I am trying to get the XP box to display the z6kl...

cheers,
lek
