Ubuntu / Zubuntu 1.0...

Just another vote of encouragement, being election day and all! I can't wait to try it once you release it.
Agreed. It seems the final destination for the Z is Ubuntu or Debian (and I've gotten used to ubuntu on everything else), though maybe a cacko dual boot would be nice for use as a media player.  How is the sound working? anything comparable to Eviljazz's modules happening on 2.6? video? Is dualboot avoidable?

That's my general impression. I've not managed to get a build done/working, and InSearchOf has been busy.

So.. is pdax dead, then?

What's the status on this? My girlfriend is going nuts over it, and its inexpensive pinkness. She experienced the EEEpc when I had the first 700 run, so I think she could stand this, although I know that this is even more pared down than the EEEpc was.
I emailed the company last week about getting a hold of one- they were on holiday. Anyone with info on how to purchase this and/or the x86 variant please, please let  us know!

You mean in pdaX? Or for the browser? Is QT even small enough to be in a base image?
I meant a QT4 option in pdaX. adding qt4 on top of a gtk interface would be kinda heavy.  For all I know, QT4 would make a gui/environment that is too heavy for the Z, though

I have been messing around with browsers on my Z under debian, and I have found that "Arora" (based on Qt4 + webkit) is very good.
Much faster to launch than firefox + support for javascript working.
Sounds cool. will we have a qt4 gui option?

Loose the thick bezel and I'll get one as a z replacement!

I wonder if they got the instant-on in place. hmmm ...
If they appear next month as advertised I have to buy one- it is just too cheap to pass up.

FF3 will atleast be built for pXr v2 (ipkg)... it is still on the fence if it will be part of the the official build.

What's the default, then? Icehampster? dillo? something webkit?

I'll look forward to an FF3 addon, then

ISO already made the call: LXDE

I'm going to get it all set up as soon as I get an image built to test it on.
lxde looks very suitable. I'm looking forward to it.

btw, is firefox3 going to make it in?

somewhere in the debian dual boot discussions zdevil posted a simple way to keep cacko from even bothering about those sharprom partitions.  Myabe you could try that and partition the drive as you see fit?

Looks nice, but I'll wait until my Z dies (and my N810) before getting another handheld. I'm proud to run things until they die or don't do what I want anymore quickly (bare minimum, really).
Same here. 2 working Z's, a phone and a laptop are quite enough. I'll save the replacements until driven by necessity.

I love FF3...  using it now... but the weird thing is... I just did an package update on my laptop (ubuntu 8.04) and I now have Firefox 3 (no RC)
I guess ubuntu is deploying it early :-)

yeah  it came outta the box with hardy. I run it on my laptop too.  A serious upgrade
