Thanks for that! I'd completely forgotten that one.

Sharp ROMs / Library dependencies?
« on: October 31, 2004, 03:24:36 pm »
Ok, I'm having a brain fade. How can you tell what libraries an application depends on besides running it and looking at the error messages?

I'm trying to get Billiardz running on the Watapon rom and am running into dependancy hell.

Any suggestions?

Thx

Linux Applications / Beep from Terminal using Default ROM?

Which Python are you using?

Have you tried the python.cramfs? I haven't had a chance to play with it much, but it seems pretty complete.

Here is the link I used: http://zaurus.xavierxeon.de/zaurus.php?gro...el&topic=python

Linux Issues / sftp problem with Mandrake

Hi, I have the same problem under windows.. I don't know why.. so i rename *.part file in *.ipk and it works

I didn't check to see if the entire file got transferred. So renaming the file is all that is required?
It sounds like sftp is buggy in KDE/Mandrake.

Thanks for the tip.

Linux Issues / sftp problem with Mandrake

Um, no I'm not familiar with that one.

I tried: 'fish://root@zaurus' and got "An error occurred while loading fish://root@zaurus: The protocol perl: not found is not supported."

So I assume it must be a Perl package? I don't have Perl installed on my z (I've been playing around with Python and gcc instead)

It's a puzzle that KDE happily connects via sftp: but can't handle the downloads. Has anyone else tried sftp via Konqueror?

Thanks,

Linux Issues / sftp problem with Mandrake

I can connect my Z (5600) via usb to my Mandrake 10 machine just fine using sftp from the command line. I can transfer files in either direction without errors. However, when I try to transfer files using Konqueror on my PC, the file transfer fails part way through and leaves a *.part file on the Z (assuming transfer from pc->Z). It fails every time.

For those unfamiliar with this, you set this up by putting 'sftp:root@zaurus' in the url window. Konq then displays files on the z like any other ftp access. It displays the files just fine; I can traverse directories, etc, but when I try to download a file to the Z it gets part way through and dies.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sharp ROMs / Watapon ROM

Chaos, thanks for all the work on this rom. I just installed it and it on my 5600 and it looks great.
I noticed that it comes up as the root user. Is this intentional? Is there some way that I can have it come up as zaurus instead? I always get nervous running as root.

Thanks,

Ok, thanks to all. I figured out my problem.

If you want to backup to SD, you have to remove the CF card!  I have an SD Socket Low-Power Ethernet adapter as well as the CF memory card. Once I remove the SD card, the backup went just fine.

Yes, /mnt/card is a 256 M SD card.

On the 5600, is there any form of feedback that it is doing anything?
How about when it is finished?  I don't remember the exact message, but mine displayed something like "backup to CF" on the top line of the display and then never changed. After 1/2 an hour I had to reaset the Z to get it back.

Could there be a problem with the memory card? It is formatted vfat, if that makes a difference.

I have a new 5600 and have been attempting to create a NAND backup following instructions found in the forum.

I have a 256M CF card formatted as FAT. When I bring up the service menu and select the NAND CF backup entry, it displays a 'backup up CF' at the top of a blank screen and stays there. I let it go for half an hour and got no feedback at all. I finally had to do a reset to get it back. When it came back up, I found a file named /mnt/card/backup that was 22.9 M bytes in size.
This sounds about the right size I think, but shouldn't the file be named differently?

Did I wait long enough?
Is there supposed to be a progress indicator of some sort during the backup?

Thanks,
