and use the updater.sh from OZ

You don't need this on collie. Just rename the files and flash with reset+CD as usual.

5x00 Hardware / Alpha Sd Driver For Collie
« on: April 18, 2007, 05:18:36 pm »
AFAIK there is no status page for 2.6 on collie. Maybe I should set up one. You can find some pieces of information with google, but much is out of date. There are angstrom-test images at: http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/collie/

The kernel is not ready for end-users yet:

Things that work more or less:
- LCD
- Keys
- Leds
- PCMCIA
- MMC/SD
- Serial Port
- Flash
- Battery/Charging

Things that should work (havent tested):
- Touchscreen
- Irda
- USB Client

Things that doen't work yet:
- Suspend/Resume
- Audio (buzzer + headphone jack)

The SD driver should support at least 4 GB SD-Cards. You have to load the modules locomo-spi and mmc-block to use SD-Cards.

Is kexec patch working? Better i test it. Thanks!!
If you use the image I uploaded on friday, kexec should work.

#modprobe locomo-spi

  mmc_spi
  mmc_core
  locomo_spi
mmc_block is missing.

It seems, that your card is not recognized. Try reinserting it. Some cards doesn't work yet. I will get some new test cards soon. The patch is in OE now, so you can recompile the modules with debugging support. If you do "echo "1" > /sys/bus/locomo-bus/drivers/locomo-spi/verbose" you get additional debug messages.

I wana test to load diferent kernels with filesystems with kexec (2.6 kernel)
using your image as "grub"

This should work without problems.

Hello,

I wrote a SPI Driver for Collie. It's very slow, because it runs at the lowest clock ATM. You can play with different speed using:
/sys/bus/locomo-bus/drivers/locomo-spi/clockmult
/sys/bus/locomo-bus/drivers/locomo-spi/clockbase
I don't know yet what the numbers mean, but I will soon.

Patches can be found at http://www2.informatik.hu-berlin.de/~tkunze/zaurus/patches .
The important ones are:
locomo-r0.patch:
   -fixes GPIO direction setting
   -implements SPI irq setting
locomo_spi-r0.patch
   -the spi driver
mmc_spi-r1.patch
-from LKML with very little changes by me

I will provide a bootstrap-image for testing soon:
http://www2.informatik.hu-berlin.de/~tkunze/zaurus/images

Cheers,

Thomas

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 2 Parts On Sd Card
« on: September 21, 2005, 05:45:15 pm »
Have a look at /etc/sdcard/*
This are the scripts responsible for mounting sd-cards (I think)
They seem to need some tweaking before the support more than one partition.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom Rc11 For Pxa Devices

Hi

there is a problem with microdrive and cf-memory:
if you boot without cf-memory inserted, the internal microdrive is /dev/hda and later inserted cf-cards become /dev/hdc.
if you boot with cf-card inserted, it becomes /dev/hda and the microdrive becomes /dev/hdc
So the Kernel seems to confuse the first and second cf-slot.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Headset Suggestions?
« on: August 13, 2005, 03:35:12 pm »
just buy a 2.5mm headset and a 2.5mm->3.5mm adapter. This should work.(I didn't try myself, but read several success stories for sl5500)

5x00 Hardware / A 32mb 5500?
« on: July 25, 2005, 08:12:48 am »
In the standard configuration half of the sl-5500's ram ist used as ramdisk so you end up with only 32 MB real ram. (The ramdisk ist mounted on /mnt/ram)
You can change this with a new kernel or a new rom.

There ist no Openzaurus for ipaq. But there ist familiar. It more or less the same like Openzaurus, since the use the same openembedded metadata and are going to merge.
See http://familiar.handhelds.org/ for more info.

Sharp ROMs / Sound From Sl5500's Internal Speaker
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:15:31 pm »
Hi,

some time ago I compiled a kernel with the buzzer-patch and modules. They worked with OZ 3.3.6 but I don't know if the work with the Sharp-Rom. But you can try

The url is:
www.informatik.hu-berlin.de/~tkunze/zaurus

Good luck.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Xmms - Streaming Audio

Hi,

From http://xmms-embedded.sourceforge.net/faq.html :
Quote
Shoutcast/Icecast stream recognition
If a streams url doesn't end with .ogg or .mp3 it will not be recognized. You need to append :mp3 or :ogg to force recognition of stream.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Howto Run Both Opie And Gpe At The Same Time
« on: December 03, 2004, 07:34:04 pm »
Hi,

I tried your howto, but unfortunatly it didn't work. I installed everything but gpe doesn't start. (there ist no thing like /etc/init.d/gpe, but I don't know, if it should be there) I found no way to start gpe myself. So maybe you forgot to metion something ... ?

Anyway, really nice howto.

General Discussion / Which filesystem?
« on: November 18, 2004, 04:54:03 pm »
AFAIR it is not good to use a journaling fs like ext3, because it writes quite often to the same sectors.
