Debian / Andromeda Debian Install Woes At Reboot

Concerning this issue

If I type startx I can see the desktop image and mouse cursor but can't control anything

Hold the left [Shift] key and move the mouse at the same time then wait few seconds. In many case it was OK for me.
If it doesn't work hit [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Backspace] then relaunch startx.

On my SL-C3000, the issue of the battery drain seems to be related to the following :

• on dmesg
  

  sharpsl-pm sharpsl-pm: Error: AC check failed.
  sharpsl-pm sharpsl-pm: Charging Error!

  EDIT:
• Power status
  The power status applet is changing from "Computer is running on battery power" to "Computer is running on AC power" when no power supply is plugged. The power status applet seems to indicate the On-line/Off-line of /proc/apm
  • Without power plugged
    Sometimes Online :

Did you tried to install the pcmciautils package ?

I had a similar problem about cf card that wasn't recognized when inserted. Same dmesg, without the device detection. :

Jan 4 03:32:42 zaurus kernel: pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 1
Jan 4 03:32:42 zaurus kernel: pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia1.0

And after the installation of the pcmciautils package everything was OK.

Hi,

I've got a battery-drain issue. I realize that my c3200 with Andromeda get switched on while suspended and it is in the leather case with lid closed.
First I suspedted that the power button is beeing pressed accidentally, however it was not the case before [Andromeda].

I try to investigate this state. E.g. to log and forbid unattended wake-up while lid is beeing closed.
Tell me, where is a wake-up script and how it should detect the lid switch?
As far as I know, Andromeda uses apm method, but could not get further with this.

What your opinion?

I have that problem as well. Mine will also turns on randomly on debian eabi. But it's not much of a problem because I only go into eabi to crack wep and then boot back into sharp rom to actually use the zaurus.

We have the same issue !
Did somebody found a solution, because the Debian distribution isn't usable with this issue (i.e. we need to reset the Zaurus after each the battery drain, and re-input the date/time) ?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Ted, Abacus And Siag For Pdax

So I checked the output of xlsfonts under pdaXii13 and it does list the exact font that Ted is requesting but then I noticed that running xfontsel produces exactly the same errors that we've been experiencing with siag

Actually if you try to run most built-in X apps (xcalc, xclipboard,etc) you'll see it's the same, with differing fonts being specified as missing - it's as if this implementation of X can't find the font paths - even though they're specified correctly and issuing (just to make certain):

xset +fp /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc
xset fp rehash
Makes no difference. I also honestly doubt it could be solved by installing any more font packages.

(This is all from my limited knowledge of the workings of X ^__^;; )

I noticed that this question has also been asked before on this forum, and never satisfactorily answered. It seems like the 'Missing charsets in String to FontSet' problem is here for a while to come yet

Of course, anyone with more knowledge on this, please feel free to come along and correct me/help out

A workaround to avoid the X bug, is to edit the file /etc/sysconfig/locale and set the environment variable LC_ALL and LANG to C. Then, exit and restart X.

To black the screen (i.e. diminish the intensity), use the key [3] while holding the meta key at the left of [-].

You must ensure that the init script of Meanie is executed at the startup of e17

After some stripping - size of the executable is down to 1.8 mb - saving memory and disk space.

Also there are no shortcuts or whatsoever. Also it's linked against libGL.so.1 ... which is unnecessary
I guess I'll have to build it too and make the real package   

Again a request - if you really want to make others happy with your packages, do it correctly. Sure there's a learning curve, but not that big.

How did you proceed to know that the libGL.so.1 is linked with it, and isn't necessary ?

thanks for that. i assume you also mapped all the keys as well since you provided a mapper file. i never had the time to figure out how to do it. now i can just use it i guess

I found the bug of the mouse.

It comes from SDL library when hidding the mouse cursor.

I commented all the lines in the dosbox source where the hide instruction is used.
